This confectionary shop is operated by the Shunkado company, famous for making Hamamatsu's renowned Unagi Pie pastries. Located a five-minute walk from Funakoshi Park and adjoined by its own kitchen, the establishment sells Unagi Pies as well as cookies, cakes, castella, manju buns, and more. The shop's eclairs come in new flavors each season and can have a message plate added to them, making them perfect for giving as gifts. Customers can also enjoy a luxurious break in the extravagant cafe, reminiscent of a hotel lounge, on the second floor. A slice of cake and a cup of coffee or a croque-monsieur while relaxing on one of the cafe's comfortable sofas is truly exceptional. Another happy point of note is the reasonable prices on par with your average cafe (note: currently unavailable due to ongoing facilities inspections).

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
