    A swimming pool in Yaizu City, Shizuoka Prefecture where Suruga Bay deep sea water is used 100% and the water is kept at a warm 36°C. Unlike most swimming pools this one is split into different areas including a bubble bath, electric bath, fitness pool, and sauna, making this a great place to refresh your body and mind. They also have aqua-aerobics and water walking programs for everyone from beginners to experts.

    You may enjoy some activities at Aquas Yaizu. But I've enjoyed swimming pools only. Warm water pools are comfortable to swim, walk and relax.

    An astronomy science museum in Yaizu City, Shizuoka Prefecture. From its position on the shore of Suruga Bay you can see from Mt. Fuji, down across the Nihondaira, to the Izu Peninsula. The observatory has the largest telescope in the Tokai region, powerful enough to even see the stars in the middle of the day, and starry sky viewing parties are held on weekend evenings. A planetarium is also on side and there are facilities for everyone from children to adults to enjoy themselves.

    This brewery in Yaizu City, Shizuoka Prefecture is said to be the brains of Sapporo Beer because it is the site of their R&D department, the Sapporo Engineering Academy. While they do not conduct factory tours, there is a biotope garden in the facility which is maintained by the employees themselves. There are around 90 varieties of plants and a variety of animals that live in the garden making it a relaxing spot.

    A rose garden in Shimada City, Shizuoka Prefecture with 8,700 roses of 360 varieties from around the world, which you can see blooming all year round. Inside the park, in addition to the rose garden there are a large almost 1,000 square meter greenhouse as well as smaller greenhouses. Festivals are held in the spring and the fall when the roses are at their peak. There are also classes held on how to prune and cultivate roses.

    Shimada City Museum Annex is a five-minute drive from the Hassashi or Mukuya Interchange and about 16 minutes from the Shimada Kanaya Interchange, a little way northeast of Shimada City Museum on the Kawagoe Highway. It is made up of three exhibition spaces: a traditional Japanese-style house, the Unno Mitsuharu Memorial Woodblock Print Collection, and the Museum of Folk Culture. The traditional house, built in 1890, is a machiya townhouse that displays materials on folk culture, and outside is a well from that period. The Memorial Collection is centered on the works of wood block artist Unno Mitsuharu, a native of Shizuoka Prefecture. From time to time, curators give gallery talks.

    Approximately a 15-minute walk from the Sagara Eigyosho bus stop and a 20-minute drive from the Sagara-Makinohara Interchange off of the Tomei Expressway, this beach is located just south of the Sagara Seaside Park. Here, there is a wonderfully appealing view of Mt. Fuji and the mountain ranges of Izu. The beach swim season is from July 1st through August 31st, during which period ocean-side shops and clubhouses are set up. The gentle waves are just right for children, making this beach an enjoyable spot for families. The beach is divided into a swimming area and a surfing area where one can enjoy marine sports such as body boarding. The waters here are so clean; one may get a glimpse of a sea turtle around.

    This park is situated within the MakinoharaDaichaen along the KanayaOchanokaori Street in Kanayafuijimicho, Shimada City. In the park is a statue of the Zen teacher, Eisai, who promulgated the tea ceremony in Japan. During March and April one can see the natural proliferation of dogtooth violets. Although known for having a scenic view of Mt. Fuji and Suruga Bay, this nightscape of the city is registered as one of Night View Heritage of Japan.

    Shizuoka Fujieda Nyakuoji 500 Renge Teraike Park Nai
    This exhibit hall and literature museum is situated within the Rengejiike Park in Nyakuoji, Fujieda City. A permanent exhibit of the regional history from primitive times to today is on exhibit with historical documents concerning Imakawa, and earthenware excavated from the Shidagunga ruins, a National Historic Site. In the literary museum a permanent exhibit focused around the fourrepresentative writers from this region, Kato Masao, Fujieda Shizuo, Ogawa Kunio, and MurakoshiKaseki are on display together with videos, literature, and picture books.

    Fujieda was the area where famous "Sengoku" warriors had come and gone. There were some battles among "Daimyo" around this area. The museum shows such stories with historical articles. Volunteers...
