This shrine in Shuchi County, Shizuoka Prefecture enshrines Shinto deities such as Onamuchi no Mikoto, also known by the name Daikoku-sama. The shrine offers wooden hammer-shaped amulets said to grant wishes for things like wealth and happiness or marriage. The temple is also famous for its cherry blossoms and its beautiful autumn foliage. Many people visit the temple, especially during its most scenic periods in spring and the fall.

"This shrine is located in Kakegawa City, Shizuoka Prefecture, where ""Kotonomachi-hime no Mikoto"" and others are venerated.

    Shizuoka Shuchi-gun Morimachi Amenomiya 576
A 15-minute walk from Towata Station or a 20-minute drive from the Fukuroi Interchange, this shrine is located at the end of stone stairs near Amenomiya Park. Its beginnings date back to the reign of the sixth-century Emperor Kinmei, when its god was moved from Munakata Shrine in Tsukushi no kuni (present-day Fukuoka Prefecture) to the present site. The main building and hall of worship were built in 1697 by the order of Shogun Tokugawa Tsunayoshi, and they have been designated Prefectural Cultural Properties. On the occasion of its Houji Festival, held the first weekend in April, Junidan Bugaku, a series of twelve dances, is performed. These dances have been designated National Intangible Folk Cultural Properties.

This shrine in Kakegawa City, Shizuoka Prefecture has ties to the samurai lord Yamauchi Katsutoyo. It enshrines deities including Susanoo-no-Mikoto. The temple grounds are adjacent to a flower garden where visitors can view flowers such as a weeping plum and bigleaf hydrangea. Consequently, the shrine sees many visitors during the blooming season.

    Shizuoka Shuchi-gun Morimachi Iida 2590
A shrine located a ten-minute drive from the Mori-Kakegawa Interchange or a fifteen-minute drive from the Fukuroi Interchange, or right near the Tenno bus stop. As in the Gion Shrine in Kyoto or the Tsushima Shrine in Aichi Prefecture, Susanoo-no-Mikoto is the god enshrined here, so the local people sometimes refer to the shrine as O-Tenno-sama or Iida-no-Gion-sama. Every year on the weekend (Friday through Sunday) closest to July 15th, the Iida-no-Gion Festival is held, featuring a dance called Yamana Jinja Tennosai Bugaku, which has been designated a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property.

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
