    This campground is accessible in a number of ways: a 25-minute drive from the Mori-Kakegawa Interchange or Enshu-Morimachi Smart Interchange, a 45-minute drive from the Fukuroi Interchange, or by bus from Enshu-Mori Station (on reservation basis). It can be used for either daytrips or lodging. It was built on the site of the former Yoshikawa Elementary School. The Yoshikawa River lies just to the north, and the bungalows and cooking areas are surrounded by trees. Visitors can enjoy not only barbecues but also fishing and observing nature. The camp even rents out cooking equipment.

    Shimada City Museum Annex is a five-minute drive from the Hassashi or Mukuya Interchange and about 16 minutes from the Shimada Kanaya Interchange, a little way northeast of Shimada City Museum on the Kawagoe Highway. It is made up of three exhibition spaces: a traditional Japanese-style house, the Unno Mitsuharu Memorial Woodblock Print Collection, and the Museum of Folk Culture. The traditional house, built in 1890, is a machiya townhouse that displays materials on folk culture, and outside is a well from that period. The Memorial Collection is centered on the works of wood block artist Unno Mitsuharu, a native of Shizuoka Prefecture. From time to time, curators give gallery talks.

    Approximately a 15-minute walk from the Sagara Eigyosho bus stop and a 20-minute drive from the Sagara-Makinohara Interchange off of the Tomei Expressway, this beach is located just south of the Sagara Seaside Park. Here, there is a wonderfully appealing view of Mt. Fuji and the mountain ranges of Izu. The beach swim season is from July 1st through August 31st, during which period ocean-side shops and clubhouses are set up. The gentle waves are just right for children, making this beach an enjoyable spot for families. The beach is divided into a swimming area and a surfing area where one can enjoy marine sports such as body boarding. The waters here are so clean; one may get a glimpse of a sea turtle around.

    This park is situated within the MakinoharaDaichaen along the KanayaOchanokaori Street in Kanayafuijimicho, Shimada City. In the park is a statue of the Zen teacher, Eisai, who promulgated the tea ceremony in Japan. During March and April one can see the natural proliferation of dogtooth violets. Although known for having a scenic view of Mt. Fuji and Suruga Bay, this nightscape of the city is registered as one of Night View Heritage of Japan.

    This is a park in Iwamuro, Iwata City. In addition to its namesake protruding boulder, the Shishigahana, the park is blessed with bountiful natural beauty such as cherry blossoms, autumn foliage, and azaleas. Along the trail, there are an exercise obstacle courseand an observatory. One can enjoy hiking, bird watching, or just soaking up the lush green of the forest. Many come on New Year's day to watch the sunrise here. In the spring the Shishigahana Park Cherry BlossomFestival is held.

    This nearly 100,000 square-meter lily garden in Fukuroi City, Shizuoka Prefecture is famous the more than 150 varieties of lily that bloom there. The garden also has a restaurant where guests can enjoy soba noodles or lily tempura while viewing the quiet lake shore.

The main theme of the permanent exhibitions of the main building are the travelers and their travels who stopped at the Shimada-juku station, waiting to cross the Oigawa River in the later part of the Edo period.   • Tamiya Kakegawa Circuit

    This remote control car circuit complex is located in a factory district north of Kakegawa Bypass. It is operated by Tamiya, Inc., a well-known manufacturer of remote control cars and other plastic models. The 290-meter-long circuit is one of the largest of its kind in the world. It features a wide range of courses including both on-road and off-road courses as well as a rock crawling field. Although visitors are free to watch the action, driving your own remote control car at the circuit requires a membership. Applying for a membership is easy and the facility even has a girls-only lounge, helping to make the hobby more approachable.

    The museum is located near the Shimogumi Community Center on a side road off Prefectural Route 69, and is designated as a National Important Cultural Property because of its valuable remains as a samurai residence. The current main building was rebuilt after the Great Ansei Earthquake, and the museum exhibits the collection of samurai armory, furnishings reminiscent of life in those days, and photographs of the house.
  • Mt. Hitsurugi Campground

    This campground, is located a 15-minute drive from Kikugawa Station or a 20-minute drive from the Kikugawa Interchange. This reservation-only campsite is situated southwest of Kanaya station and the entrance to the road that leads to summit of 282.6-meter Mt. Hitsurugi, the highest peak in the city. Visitors who wish to use the campground must make a reservation at least 14 days in advance of their expected arrival, and they may choose to make a day trip or spend one night. Campsites are available throughout the year, but bungalows are available only from April to October. It is an especially attractive place to spend some time after hiking or to enjoy a barbecue. During cherry blossom season, it is full of visitors having blossom-viewing parties.
