"Located about 1 minute by car from the Izu Nagaoka IC on the Izu Chuo Highway and about 7 minutes by ropeway from Izu-no-kuni Panorama Park, this ""Japanese space"" themed terrace at the top of Katsuragi Mountain has an observation deck, sofa area and stone floor area where you can enjoy a panoramic view of Mount Fuji and Suruga Bay. There is also a modern Japanese-style cafe, Katsuragi Saryo, and a coffee shop, Katsuragi Coffee."

We spent more than an hour up in the Park, covering some of the trails which offered good view of Mt. Fuji and cities down hill. A pleasant and easy walk with some good photo spots.

One of Japan’s largest water gates, View-O was erected in Numazu Port to protect the city of Numazu City, Shizuoka Prefecture from tsunami. There are viewing galleries 30 meters above the ground on either bank giving visitors the chance to enjoy 360 degree panoramas of Mt. Ashitaka, Mt. Fuji, the Akaishi Mountains, and out to Shimizu. A 30 meter long bridge connects the two galleries, ensuring you can check out both easily during your visit. At night, the entire huge facility is lit up, creating a powerful and magical scene.

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
