    Shizuoka Izunokuni-shi Nagaoka 260-1
"Located about 1 minute by car from the Izu Nagaoka IC on the Izu Chuo Highway and about 7 minutes by ropeway from Izu-no-kuni Panorama Park, this ""Japanese space"" themed terrace at the top of Katsuragi Mountain has an observation deck, sofa area and stone floor area where you can enjoy a panoramic view of Mount Fuji and Suruga Bay. There is also a modern Japanese-style cafe, Katsuragi Saryo, and a coffee shop, Katsuragi Coffee."

We spent more than an hour up in the Park, covering some of the trails which offered good view of Mt. Fuji and cities down hill. A pleasant and easy walk with some good photo spots.

This suspension bridge located in Mishima City, Shizuoka Prefecture is 400 meters long and is the longest pedestrian bridge in Japan. From a thrilling 70.6 meters in the air, visitors can enjoy spectacular views of Mt. Fuji and Suruga Bay. The bridge is quite wide, making it easy to traverse with a stroller or wheelchair. Kanagawa Pref. Ashigarashimogunhakonemachi Hakone 638
With superb views of both Mt. Fuji and Lake Ashinoko, this popular parkway runs atop the border between Kanagawa and Shizuoka prefectures. Famously, a portion of the road surface is grated, called a 'melodyvape,' so you can hear it play a famous melody as you drive upon it. This curvy parkway with many ups and downs is a favorite with cyclist and drivers wanting to enjoy the feel of the road.

Beautiful view of Mt Fuji. Saw a row of Ferrari cars owner also up there enjoying the scenery. No tour buses up there so air still fresh and not many people.

There are also eight observatories along the road, as well as natural parks such as Takichiyamaenchi, Shikagatani Park and Mt. Sukumoyama. Izu Skyline has been listed as one of 100 Night Views of Japan and also as a, where visitors can enjoy a magical view of the landscape that is completely different to its daytime appearance.

One of Japan’s largest water gates, View-O was erected in Numazu Port to protect the city of Numazu City, Shizuoka Prefecture from tsunami. There are viewing galleries 30 meters above the ground on either bank giving visitors the chance to enjoy 360 degree panoramas of Mt. Ashitaka, Mt. Fuji, the Akaishi Mountains, and out to Shimizu. A 30 meter long bridge connects the two galleries, ensuring you can check out both easily during your visit. At night, the entire huge facility is lit up, creating a powerful and magical scene.

  • Kirameki no Oka

    Shizuoka Pref. Numadushi Ita
Positioned on a small hill in Ida, Numazu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Kirameki no Oka is a superb viewing spot with expansive views of Suruga Bay and Mt. Fuji. When the sun shines on Suruga Bay in just the right way the surface of the sea sparkles quite majestically. It is because of this that the view has derived its name (Kirameki no Oka literally means sparkling hill). The viewing point is known also as a place to witness glorious sunsets over the sea and the Ida district. From January to February the blossoming rape flowers can be seen in the fields below and the Chinese characters of the name ‘Ida’ can also be seen planted within the flowers. Below the staircase is the Sungo burial mound preserved in just the same way as when it was first excavated.

Being known as for granting wishes for marriage, the bridge is popular with marriage-minded women looking to give a not-so-subtle hint to their romantic partners.

This bridge, the second on Shuzenji Spa's Koi no Hashi Meguri (Tour of Love Bridges) model course, is said to grant wishes for a successful romance. It is also known as Akogare-bashi, which translates as yearning bridge. We recommend taking a walk in one of the rental kimono or yukata that are available. Perhaps the bridge's effects will increase if you think about your partner while crossing.

    Shizuoka Pref. Izushi Shuzenji
A legend passed down by Shuzenji Temple has it that the five bridges that span the Katsura River grant wishes related to love and romance made while crossing them. This stems from the 1911 New Kabuki play Shuzenji Monogatari set at the temple in which shogun Minamoto no Yoriie falls in love with Katsura, a mask-maker's daughter. This bridge is one of those five bridges. Also known as Yasuragi-bashi, which can be translated as tranquility bridge, it is said to grant wishes for happy marriage.

This tower is located on the grounds of Shuzenji Temple, famous for being Izu's oldest hot springs spa. The tower features an observation deck with a commanding view of the area. Its name stems from a poem by novelist Soseki Natsume, who loved Shuzenji. Next to the twelve meter-tall tower is the Hakoyu, a simple hot springs facility offering indoor baths where bathers can relax and enjoy baths full of the scent of Japanese cypress.

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
