This convenient rest house built inside of the lower station of the Jukkoku-toge Cable Car features a souvenir shop and a soba noodle restaurant. The soba restaurant on the first floor offers dishes such as their sakuraebi no kakiage soba, which feature hot or cold soba served with a sakura shrimp tempura fritter, as well as their honwasabi zaru soba, which feature chilled soba served on a bamboo strainer with an Izu wasabi root that you can grate yourself. The rest house also has outdoor terrace seats where guests are allowed to bring their pets.

    Shizuoka Izu-shi Yugashima Kido
This souvenir shop is located inside the Joren Falls parking lot just next to the Joren no Taki bus stop. It is about a 33-minute bus ride from Shuzenji Station on the Izuhakone Railway on a Tokai Bus. The shop carries famous local sweets, marine products, wasabi, tea-related products, and other quintessential Izu products. One of their most notable offerings is their Amagisan Zuido Rolls. These premium roll cakes, which were inspired by the Old Amagi Tunnel, are popular for their fluffy cake covering and their refreshingly light cream filling made with New Summer Orange, a local specialty. We also recommend Umeera!, a distilled spirit made with New Summer Orange.

Part of the long-established Arai Ryokan facility in the Shuzenji district of Shizuoka Prefecture’s Ito City, this building has been designated as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property. In 2013 the first floor area was remodeled, and it became a souvenir area with three tenants. In addition to purchasing a variety of souvenirs including processed marine products, wasabi products, which are the local specialty, and tsukemono, it also sells tofu gelato which is popular as a gourmet snack to eat on the go. Guests also enjoy choosing from one of four different flavors for the famous Jusanya-obanyaki.

This tea house, named for its location right in front of Jouren Falls, offers a number of original items including wasabi, a specialty of Amagi, wasabi-zuke (chopped wasabi mixed with sake lees), and more. Its most popular item is its wasabi soft-serve ice cream, which perfectly matches the refreshing fragrance of wasabi with the milk flavor of the ice cream. The tea house makes a great place to rest while exploring the beautiful waterfall and the clear streams where wasabi plants are raised.

    Shizuoka Numazu-shi Senbonminatocho
"A souvenir shop located in the Numazu Port area, about a 25-minute drive from the Numazu Interchange on the Tomei Expressway. Its symbol is a figure of a giant ""shrimp god"" It boasts the finest assortment of goods in the Numazu Port area, including edible items such as seaweed, Tsukudani (fish preserved in soy sauce), Shiokara (a dip made from the internal organs of sea creatures), and Ochazuke (seasoning). A recommended product is Numazu brand Numakama, a kind of seafood risotto, brimming with the delicious flavors of Suruga Bay, made with sakura shrimp, dried horse mackerel, horse mackerel sausage, and sardines boiled in salt water with ume plum. It tastes good just as it is or with green tea poured over it."

"Located a 25-minute drive from the Numazu Interchange on the Tomei Expressway, this is the oldest souvenir shop in the Numazu Port area. Even does not deal in any raw foods, it sells dried seaweed, such as nori and aosa, and the usual souvenirs of Izu, as well as a variety of food samples, sundries, and character-themed goods designed in collaboration with Izu. This is the only shop near Numazu Port area that sells merchandise for children, such as picture dictionaries of fish, stories about ""Mr. Tuna,"" and other souvenirs one might expect to find at a fishing port."

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
