This restaurant offers imaginative Edo-style sushi made with plenty of local fish and other seasonal seafood. It is highly regarded for the taste of its food and the skills of its owner, who trained at an Edo-style sushi restaurant in Tokyo. In addition to lunch, dinner, and children's menus, they also offer a number of thoughtful menus such as full course dinners for people staying at hotels that do not serve food.

Very nice and clean atmosphere. We took Chirashi- sushi. Very fresh and good balance. Miso-soup Dashi was very good. But our favorite part was the Green-tea ice-cream. Inexplicable very good...

It serves creative cuisine with a particular focus on frame-grilled dishes made with local Shimoda seafood such as splendid alfonsino. Their yakishabu-style splendid alfonsino, which is subtly fragrant with the scent of sesame oil, comes especially recommend. We also recommend their catch-of-the-day sashimi assortments, which primarily feature fresh local seafood such as horse mackerel and spear squid. Their fragrant seared splendid alfonsino sashimi also comes recommended. Other popular dishes made with local ingredients include their grilled Amagi Shamo chicken and leek skewers and their Izugyu beef skewers.

This restaurant is located about a two-minute walk from Izukyu-Shimoda Station on the Izu Kyuko Line. Guests can casually enjoy cuisine made with carefully-selected ingredients. It has a more spacious interior than its sister restaurant Kaikoku Chubo Nami-Nami, that is particularly appreciated by female customers. Their casually-enjoyable fried kushiage skewers are especially popular. Also popular are their reasonably-priced grilled kushiyaki skewers made with ingredients such as splendid alfonsino, a specialty of Shimoda, as well as thick-cut bacon, tuna cheeks, beef skirt steak, and beef offal. We also recommend their Kaikoku Shimoda cocktail, a bright blue drink made with the local sake Reimei that is evocative of the seas of Shimoda.

"This cafe and restaurant is about a 10-minute walk from Izukyu-Shimoda Station on the Izu Kyuko Line. It is located inside of a kominkan (old house) with namako walls built on the site of the government provisioning shop (trading post) where foreign sailors purchased provisions for their ships in the years after the opening of port of Shimoda. The shop, which features retro decorations when the port was opened, including rebar chairs and lighting fixtures styled after ship lamps, has a relaxed atmosphere. Their most popular item is their hamburger steak sets, which come smothered with a specially-made demiglace sauce. Their cooked-to-perfection ""service steaks"" come recommended, as do their pumpkin cakes and other sweets."

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
