This tourist facility located by the sea, about four minutes from Imaihama-Kaigan Station, has an outdoor hot spring bath facing Sagami Bay, a restaurant, and it also provides a range of activities for guests to enjoy. The open-air bath perched on the very edge of the sea, gives a sense of bathing out in the middle of the vast ocean. The stunning Sagami Bay can be enjoyed with views of Izu Oshima Island and Niijima Island. Local specialties and snacks, among other things are sold in the shop. The restaurant has several fish tanks from where you can pick out your favorite seafood like Ise lobster or sea snails to eat either as sashimi or grilled on the barbecue. Activities include making jam, tokoroten (gelidium jelly made into thin strips and eaten with vinegar or syrup) and dried fish, etc. (charges apply and advanced booking is necessary for groups of five or more).

This recreational facility in Nishiizu Town, Kamo County, Shizuoka Prefecture on the Nishi Amagi Highland lies at an elevation of 750 meters and offers views of Suruga Bay. Here one can get their fill of the abundant highland scenery among the tranquil sight of grazing cows eating grass on the meadows. On the facility grounds are a restaurant, accommodation cottages and barbecue equipment for a casual and fun outdoor experience. The restaurant’s homemade milk ice cream is especially popular, and it also serves soba and udon noodles as well as curry.

This private camp located in Nishi-Izu serves only one group of campers per day. Campers can enjoy up-close views of the cobalt blue ocean and a grand natural setting almost as if they were on a desert island. The adjacent AQUA VILLAGE is another private camp, which also only serves one group per day. The camp, which features a private beach, feels like a secret base to be enjoyed with close friends.

During the swimming season from mid July to the end of August, sea athletics take the stage in the Mera Fishing Port. With a rich variety of athletic facilities, such as slides, water swings, and a diving board, it's a popular place for kids. And since it's in the bay, you can still have fun there even when other beaches are closed to swimmers. It also features showers, restrooms, changing rooms, and shops.

This facility offering sea kayaking experiences in the waters off Minamiizu is located about a ten-minute drive from Izukyu-Shimoda Station on the Izu Kyuko Line. Their sea kayaking experiences offer participants the chance to enjoy extraordinary views from the ocean that they cannot normally see. The most popular program is the one-day cave exploration tour, which includes kayaking as well as lunch on a private beach, snorkeling, and bathing at a hot spring. Novice kayakers can rest assured as every participant is given a lecture on paddling, kayak handling, and safety before departure. It is also possible to step up to a more advanced request tour and paddling lesson.

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
