Shizuoka Pref. Itoushi Yukawa 571 - 19 Road Station In Ito Marine Town
Forming part of the Ito Marine Town roadside rest area, the Ito Marine Road is a 417.5-meter-long footpath constructed along a breakwater. At the furthest point, there is a monument entitled “Ai Sing,” symbolizing love and peace, which was created by the sculptor Kenji Shigeoka. Ito Marine Road has been designated as a “Lover’s Sanctuary,” and is a popular spot for couples to go on dates. Six-colored “Good Luck Ribbons” are on sale at the entrance.

  • Matsukawa Walkway

    Shizuoka Pref. Itoushi Takenouchi
The Matsukawa Walkway is a path approximately one kilometer in length which follows the Mastukawa River in Ito City, Shizuoka Prefecture. It’s a great place to enjoy a relaxing stroll with some stylish looking lights and flowering trees and shrubs like cherry blossom, weeping willow and wisteria adorning the way. Along the path are many things to see such as the Memorial Museum of Ito born literary man Kinoshita Mokutaro, and the Miura Anjin (William Adams) memorial monument, as well as the former ryokan Tokaikan which was built of wood and is now open to the public as a historical and cultural sightseeing spot. Lots of people come to Matsukawa Walkway to see the cherry blossom during the spring months.

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
