This is a three-kilometer long hiking trail that runs along the Jogasaki coastline in the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. You can enjoy the amazing scenery of the lava plateau falling into the Sagami Sea. One of the thrilling scenic spots along the trail is the Kadowaki Suspension Bridge, a 48-meter long bridge spanning a 23-meter tall precipice. From the Kadowakisaki Light House observation deck you get an amazing 360-degree panorama view including the Izu Islands and the Amagi mountain range. You can also enjoy the local flora and fauna including clusters of Daphniphyllum, a natural monument of Ito City, Asian house martins, and more.

    Shizuoka Ito-shi Futo
An eight-kilometer hiking course that runs from Izu-Kogen Station on the Izu-Kyuko Line to Renchakuji Temple. The trail is longer than the Jogasaki Picnical Course which starts at the end point and the trail above your head is thick with trees while some of the unpaved trails look untouched by human hands. Along the trail you'll find a number of natural sites including the Oyodo and Koyodo tide pools along the coast perfect for shellfish gathering, the Hashigakari natural covered bridge, the Tsushima Falls which falls straight into Sagami Bay, and more. The view from the Hashidate suspension Bridge, which is 60-meters long and 18-meters high, is spectacular.

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
