This port is located in Suzukawa-cho, Fuji City. It is the port closest to World Heritage Mt. Fuji. There are various marine products brought to port here, but it's particularly well known for shirasu(young sardines). There are fishermans' cooperative food halls nearby that serve shirasu-don (shirasu on rice). There are events held here like the Shirasu Matsuri in June and the Shirasu Kaido Fair in October.

    しらすで有名な漁港はほんの一部です。港沿いに散策すると、漁港食堂から対岸の富士と港のみえる公園までぐるっと回って1時間近くかかりました。

"A port facing ""Suruga Bay"" in Izu City, Shizuoka prefecture. The banks are wide, so it's famous as a great place for fishing, where you can fish a variety of fish, from horse mackerel, and mackerel tofrigate tuna. Also, it features the boarding place for the ""Suruga Bay Ferry"" which connects Shimizu Port and Toi Port, and is used by tourists."

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
