This cable-car line in Kannami-cho, Tagata County, Shizuoka Prefecture is operated by the Izuhakone Railway and connects Jukkoku Noboriguchi Station and Jukkoku Touge Station. The cable cars run every 15-minutes and the trip takes three-minutes. There's a free dog park at the top of the mountain so you can ride the cable-car with your favorite pet pooch.

You can easily do a round trip of the national park with this a pleasant part of the trip. Benefits are weather dependant and that is a big if! However even in teaming rain we were able to see the...

The Oigawa Mainline of this railway connects from Kanaya Station in Shimada City to Senzu Station in Kawanehoncho, Haibara County, and then extends from Senzu Station to Ikawa Station in Aoi Ward, Shizuoka Prefecture. Steam locomotives operate on the Oigawa Mainline and run more often and further here than anywhere else in Japan. Along the Ikawa Line they run the special Abt System Trains with their special toothed system.

The IKAWA Line, operated by Oigawa Railway, is Japan's only apt train line and runs 25.5 km between Senkashira Station and IKAWA Station, and is currently operated as a sightseeing train. The train is a red trolley train with doors that open and close manually, and the train conductor provides a tour guide while passengers enjoy the seasonal scenery of the Sunmatakyo Gorge from the train windows.

    Shizuoka Hamamatsu-shi Tenryu-ku Futamatacho Akura 114-2
"This local Shizuoka train line is nicknamed the ""Tenhama Line."" The line connects Kakegawa Station in Kakegawa City with Shinjohara Station in Kosai City, passing through Tenryu-Futamata Station in Hamamatsu City's Tenryu Ward along the way. The 67.7-meter-long line is dotted with 36 designated National Tangible Cultural Properties, and riders rave about the beautiful scenery beyond the train's windows as well as its nostalgic atmosphere. In 1998, facilities inside the Tenryu-Futamata Station were designated a National Tangible Cultural Property; later, in 2011, the station building itself as well as its platforms; and the bridges, tunnels, and other major facilities along the entire train line were also designated National Tangible Cultural Properties."

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
