A 15-minute walk from the Izu-Kogen Station on the Izu-Kyuko Line. At this pottery workshop even complete beginners can feel free to experience making their own pottery. Starting with just a lump of clay you can make your own original piece that is unique throughout the world. From 1kg of clay you can make two smaller items such as tea-cups or mugs or one larger item such as a serving plate. You can choose your favorite glaze from six different options and then the staff will fire your piece and mail the finished article to wherever you like. Once you get the hang of it you can challenge yourself with more complicated projects and slightly more difficult techniques such as hand tossing, using the electric potter's wheel, or ceramic painting.

A pottery studio located near Shiraito Falls. Located on the site surrounded by a verdant green cedar forest is a gallery, workshop, earthen kiln, and more. The studio is marked by the moss-covered gate at the head of path. They offer carefully made high quality goods with a tangible sense of warmth including vases and tableware, and are particularly known for their teacups and mugs which add a colorful touch to your everyday life. With prior reservation you can participate in their hands-on pottery classes where you can make your own original work in around two hours.

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
