    This shrine and garden in Suruga Ward, Shizuoka City is famous for many flowering plum and cherry blossom trees. This includes the Miwariume plum said to have been planted by Tokugawa Ieyasu himself. Visitors can enjoy seeing the grounds dyed pink from late December, when the early-flowering varieties bloom, to mid-April when the late-flowering varieties bloom. Set to the backdrop of Suruga Bay, the shrine and garden are one of the area's most scenic spots.

    This park located in Fujieda City blooms year-round with many seasonal flowers. These include some 260 wisteria and 1,300 cherry blossoms, as well as flowering plums, rhododendron, and Japanese iris. The park also has a soothing Japanese garden, an open-air concert hall, and a jumbo slide, the latter of which makes it popular with kids.

It is famous as a place for cherry trees, and during the season every year from late March to early April, the ""IzuKogen Cherry Blossom Festival"" is held, when you can see cherry trees illuminated at night. It is visited not just by locals but by many tourists as well."

    Shizuoka Hamamatsu-shi Chuo-ku Shikatanicho 25-10
    This cliff valley is located around one kilometer north of Hamamatsu Castle. Open to the public, the 116-meter-long, 30-meter-wide, 13-meter-deep valley and the surrounding area are known as the Mikatagahara Ancient Battlefield, which records state is the site where Tokugawa Ieyasu, who experienced a crushing defeat at the hands of Takeda Shingen in 1572 in the Battle of Mikatagahara, executed a night raid on Takeda's forces in retaliation. According to legend, Ieyasu devised a plan to drive away Takeda's army one way or another, hanging a white cloth from the cliff; confused and in disarray due to Ieyasu's night attack, the Takeda army mistakenly saw the cloth as a bridge and both men and horses tumbled into the valley when they tried to cross it.

  • Omiya-no-matsu

    "A pine tree on the coastline along National Route 135. It has a history stretching back to the Edo period, and it was called the ""Hagoromo-no-matsu"" because of its extremely beautiful appearance, having been planted by the elder Matsudaira Izunokami Nobutsuna. This pine leaped to fame due to ""Konjiki Yasha"" by Koyo Ozaki, which was printed serially in Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper over six years starting in 1897. A pupil of Koyo's, Fuyo Oguri, placed a monument with words of Konjiki Yasha on it next to this pine, so it came to be called ""Omiya-no-matsu."" Now, this is one of the popular photo spots in Atami as well as the statue of Kanichi and Omiya."

    Cape Tsumeki, located in Suzaki, Shimoda City, Shizuoka Prefecture, is a well known sightseeing spot for its winter daffodils and summer swimming. The Suzaki area is awash with beauty with its pillars of rock called columnar joints formed by cooling magma, the alluring azure sea, and the chalk Tsumekizaki lighthouse standing on the tip of the cape, as well as having a villa of the Imperial family. Many tourists flock to the area for the daffodil festival held during the winter when about three million wild daffodils are in full bloom.

    This spot in Kariyado Fujinomiya City is famous for its cherry blossoms. It is known for a more than 800 year-old hill cherry tree, Japan's oldest, that Minamoto no Yoritomo is said to have tied his horse to while on a hunt in 1193. The tree has been designated as an National Special Natural Monument. The area is also notable for the beautiful rape blossoms grown in the surrounding area.

    This nature park is located inside the Showa no Mori Center commercial complex attached to Roadside Station Amagigoe along National Route 414. It is about a 60-minute drive from Numazu Interchange on the Tomei Expressway or Nagaizumi-Numazu Interchange on the ShinTomei Expressway. A gently-sloping promenade has been built along the mountain's slopes. Visitors can enjoy taking a stroll while listening to the chirping birds. The park blooms with many of the exemplary flowers of Amagi including Korea rhododendron (Rhododendron mucronulatum) and ebine orchids (Calanthe discolor). The most stunning of all are the 13,000 rhododendrons representing some 500 species that come into peak bloom from mid-April to late May. A Rhododendron Festival is held in the park during Golden Week in late April and early May.

    シャクナゲが終わりかけという時期に訪れました。 結構なアップダウンがあります。 森林の斜面ということも影響しているのか背が高い感じのシャクナゲが多く、トンネル状態になっている遊歩道もありました。 満開だったらきれいだったかも。

    Shirahama Aloe no Sato is an area near Shirahama and Itadoichiki  where around 30,000 Krantz aloe plants grow wild. A footpath has been constructed which is around 500 meters long, enabling visitors to enjoy a stroll with the Izu Peninsula and its beautiful coastline in the background. The area is particularly beautiful when the aloe plants are in flower, and the ground is a sea of red; it makes for a truly spectacular view. An “Aloe Blossom Festival” is held every year from early December to late January when the aloe plants are in flower, with aloe products on sale and free aloe tea, etc.

    Hokkawa Onsen in Higashiizu Town, Kamo County, Shizuoka Prefecture, is famous as a place where you can see the moon rising above the horizon and catch beautiful views of the ‘moon road’ where the reflection of the moon leaves a trail on the surface of the sea. The moon road is a fantastic sight that can be seen only a few days before and after a full moon. It can be viewed from anywhere along the seafront. Popular as a power spot it is also said that dreams come true when making your wish in front of the moon road. It has also been designated as one of Japan’s best 100 moons.

    This is a rape blossom field near the Hino intersection of National Route 136 in Minamiizu Town, Kamo County. Many people visit to see the meadow of rape blossoms during the “South Cherry Blossom and Rape Festival” held every year from the 10th of February to the 10th of March. A special feature is the “Rape blossom wedding” where selected couples, who subscribe in advance, have their wedding in the rape field during the season.

    Located roughly 200 meters off the Nishi-Izu coast, “Sanshiro Islands” is the collective name for the four islands of Denbei Island , Nakano Island, Okinose Island, and Taka Island. The name “Sanshiro Islands” (“Three-Four Islands”) derives from the fact that, depending on which angle you view the Islands from, there sometimes appear to be only three islands, rather than four. On days when the tidal level is less than 30 centimeters, during the period between roughly one hour before low tide and one hour after low tide, a “tombolo” causeway appears that connects the Sehama Coast to Denbei Island; this tombolo has been designated a Prefectural Natural Monument. The tombolo can be seen during the daytime between February and mid-October (the exact times vary from day to day).

    This popular promenade follows the Itogawa River that flows through the center of Atami and descends from the mountain to the seaside water park.   • Jogasaki Blues Monument

    This magnificent lava rock coast extends for some nine kilometers. Along it is the 48 meter-long, 23 meter-tall Kadowaki Suspension Bridge that spans the sea between Hanshiro Otoshi and Kadowaki Cape. Next to the bridge is the Jogasaki Blues monument, one of the coast's points of interest. The monument was created to commemorate the increase in tourism in the area caused by the release of the 1968 smash hit Jogasaki Blues by mood kayo music group Akira Kurosawa and the Ross Primos.

    "The ""Flower Garden made from a Rice Field"" started in 2000 as a wide-scale flower garden project, in which six different varieties of flower seeds were planted in a vast rice field (roughly 62,000 square meters) during the non-farming season so that many people could enjoy the flowers during blooming season. It is free from May 1st to 5th, when you can even pick flowers. African calendula, nemophilia, snapdragons, daisies, red poppies, and cornflowers bloom all across the field for your enjoyment during the blooming season from early March to May 5th."
  • Ushibarayama Chomin no Mori Park

    "A nature park located on a 236-meter high mountain in Kamo County, Shizuoka Prefecture. It is known as a great place for plum trees. From January to February every year, you can observe about 300 plum trees in 10 varieties, including the ""Yaekan plum"" and the ""Yaechasei"" in the plum orchard. During the season, you'll find many flower-viewers bustling about."
  • Hagoromo no Matsu Pinetree

    This pine in Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka City serves as the vessel for the deities enshrined at Miho-jinja Shrine. Legend has it that this was the very tree that the celestial maiden in the Japanese legend of Hagoromo hung her feather robe. However, this is actually the third tree to go by this name. It took over for the rapidly withering second tree in 2010. The tree's location is connected to Miho-jinja Shrine by a 500 meter-long approach lined with pine trees known as the Kami no Michi (god's path).

It is also a popular place for a night view spot.There is the Nihondaira Ropeway that runs to Kunozan Toshogu Shrine."
  • Kasui Yuri no Sono

    This nearly 100,000 square-meter lily garden in Fukuroi City, Shizuoka Prefecture is famous the more than 150 varieties of lily that bloom there. Visitors can enjoy viewing the lilies while walking the promenade that circles the shore of the central lake, which is landscaped in the style of a Japanese garden. The garden also has a restaurant where guests can enjoy soba noodles or lily tempura while viewing the quiet lake shore.
