- A day-use hot spring in a quiet mountain valley in Atami. It is fully featured, with indoor baths, outdoor baths, and a restaurant. Recommended is the enzyme bath, which features a mixture of rice bran and sawdust from domestic cypress. After mixing, it is fermented and the temperature is raised to about 60 degree Celsius. If you bathe in that for 15 minutes, waste products from your body will be removed, so you can enhance your self-healing ability. The bathing style is to change into dedicated bathing wear, enter up to your neck and be lying down. It is praised for warming the core of your body, and activating your metabolism.

- “Hakoyu spa” was built for the sake of enjoying a visit to Shuzenji Temple’s open-air hot spring which flourished as the oldest hot spring resort in Izu. It is said that in olden days, Minanotono Yoriie bathed at Hakoyu hot spring. The construction of just the indoor bath is extremely simple with the fragrance of Hinoki cypress wood drifting in the air and on sunny days, the light shines in through the skylight. A 12-meter-high elevation belvedere (observation deck) with an unbroken view of Shuzenji Temple’s townscape has also been built, enabling you to enjoy the effects of this relaxing hot spring.

- A hot-spring in Shimada City, Shizuoka Prefecture that uses nano-water which is gentle to skin. The baths are split into the Wood Spring and the Stone Spring and the men's and women's sides differ on even and odd days. They also have a carbonated bath and a post-sauna cold water bath. - Tokaikan Former Ryokan was built in 1928. This is a three-storey wooden hot spring ryokan (Japanese inn) which retains strong traces of the architectural style of the early Showa period. The building was donated to Ito City after the ryokan closed in 1997, and in 2001 it was transformed into a sightseeing and cultural establishment. The fine techniques of craftsmanship on such as the corridor, stairs, the entrance to the guest rooms and the decorative windows are a must-see. The baths are open for bathing on weekends and public holidays.

- This public bathhouse is located about a three-minute walk from Futo Beach. They feature gender-separate Japanese cypress baths each with room for seven to eight bathers. The baths are especially popular with beachgoers due to its location near the beach. The baths are relatively uncrowded outside of the beachgoing season. The sodium and calcium chloride hot springs are said to help with conditions such as cuts, burns, chronic skin diseases, and chronic women's diseases. The bathhouse also features a spacious 25-square-meter lounge that is well-suited for taking a rest after a day of swimming at the beach. Please note that wearing bathing suits in the baths is not allowed.

- This bathhouse is located in a large complex outfitted with medical, health, and welfare facilities. Here you can ease away the fatigue of the day while taking in a view of the majestic Tenryu River and lush Tenryu Birin Forest. The clean and tidy indoor bath area is a relaxing space with a Japanese decor. From the area's large windows, you can enjoy the sight of cherry blossoms in spring and fall foliage in autumn. The bathhouse has no adjoining restaurant and customers are allowed to bring in food and drink such as bento box lunches. The bathhouse is widely loved by locals for its cozy atmosphere and is used as a space for rest and relaxation.

秋葉ダムの近く、周りは何もない。公共の浴場で、温泉ではないが自分の行った日はほとんど人もおらずのんびりとつかれた。 和室の休憩室や飲料、パンやカップ麺の自販機等があるので入浴後にくつろげる。 浜松市民は200円で入れる、というのを見てここも浜松市なんだと気づかされた。

- Tokko-no-yu is the birthplace of the Shuzen-ji hot spring, and it gushes forth through the clear stream of Katsura River which flows through the center of the Shuzen-ji hot spring town. When Kobo Daishi visited Shuzenji Temple in 807, he was impressed by the filial piety of a boy who was washing the back of his sick father in the Katsura River, thinking that “the water in the river must surely be cold”, legend has it that he struck a river rock with a Buddhist ritual implement and hot water sprang forth. However, currently it is prohibited to bathe in this hot spring.

- This is one of the guesthouses of Kawachi hot spring which is located in a ravine about three kilometers from Shimoda area, Shizuoka Prefecture. This is a well-established Japanese hotel which was established 150 years ago and sits on grounds of 6,600 meters squared. The famous “Sen-nin buro (thousand-person bath)” is said to be Japan’s first large public bath made completely from Hinoki cypress—it is not just the bath which is made from wood but the walls and ceiling are also all wooden. You can enjoy the natural hot spring to your heart’s content while being infused by the scent of Hinoki cypress. From “Manyo no Yu” (Ten thousand leaves hot spring) which is the largest women’s wooden bath in the country, there is a gate which leads to “Sen-nin buro” (thousand- person bath). (Mixed bathing is also possible.)

- This is a free footbath located inside Sasahara Park along the Kawazu River in Kawazu Town, Kamo County, Shizuoka Prefecture. The source is the hot spring of Kawazu Town drawn from Mine Hot Spring, so the water is mixed with sodium chloride. The bottom of the circular footbath is covered in stones that stimulate the foot’s pressure points, and around the circumference of the central pillar is a board featuring tourist information. It is a spot many people visit during February’s Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival.

- This park on the coast around a 10-minute walk from Izu-Atagawa Station is a distinctive for its hot spring caves. It is popular for its wide open space with free foot baths, and one can heal their aches while looking at the Sagami Sea with the Izu Shichito Islands. Inside the park there is also a path which stimulates the foot’s pressure points for health. One can take turns to enjoy a casual health walk and then use the footbath. This spot is easy to visit and take a break in between Izu’s other attractions.

- Iso no Yu (hot spring) is a public open-air bath in the Okawa Onsen resort in Higashiizu Town, Kamo County, Shizuoka Prefecture. The wooden building of the hot spring resides next to a small fishing port. The separate male and female baths face the shore and if you go up to the fence you can get great views out over the sea. In addition to enjoying the hot spring while listening to the sound of the waves and feeling the sea breeze, it’s nice to cool down outside on a chair while looking out to sea. The spring waters contain a lot of salt and it is said to be good for lots of different ailments like nerve pains, muscle ache, joint pains, stiff shoulders and poor circulation, etc. Changing rooms are available.

- A tourist park in front of Izu-Atagawa Station, this place features a footbath and wooden hot spring “Yagura” that anyone can enter. Water flows from the Hamada spring right nearby. Feel free to use the footbath while waiting for the train or while taking a break between tourist locations. Next to the footbath is a museum that introduces the history of Atagawa and the hot spring, and you can make your own hot spring egg for a fee. The park premises are barrier-free.

Every summer, the spa holds Candle Night, a fantastical festival of light.

- This day-use hot spring bathhouse also used as a hot spring health spa is located about a four-minute drive from the Izu-Nagaoka Station on the Izuhakone Railway. Guests can enjoy bedrock baths made with ample amounts of Bad Gastein stone of Austria and hokutolite, a mineral from Tamagawa Onsen in Akita Prefecture designated as a Special Natural Monument, as well as mist saunas and other bathing facilities. The bathhouse's Radon no Yu baths are fed entirely by free-flowing hot spring water from Kona Onsen. The alkaline simple hot springs are said to aid recovery from fatigue and to help with conditions including nerve pain, lower back pain, and stiff shoulders. The bathhouse's nearly 5,000-square-meter garden features an 80-year-old weeping cherry tree that is truly a sight to behold when in full bloom.
