Situated in front of the Shinsui (water) Park in Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture is this restaurant with wonderful views overlooking the sea from the outside terrace. Customers can enjoy Italian-styled cuisine at this restaurant using locally produced ingredients such as vegetables from farmers in Atami and Yugawara, seafood from Sagami Bay, and game hunted in the winter Izu mountains. Dishes on the menu for both lunch and dinner are perfectly complimented with a nice glass of wine. When the weather is warm it’s a lovely place to sit out on the terrace and feel the cool sea breeze while enjoying your meal. It gets very busy on the day of the Atami Sea Fireworks Festival.

After our visit of Kiankaku a historic house in Atami we were very lucky finding this little Italian restaurant for a lunch break. Terre et Mer does have a lovely waitress who speaks Japanese...

This laid back Italian restaurant is situated in the hills of Ito City, Shizuoka Prefecture, among lush green trees. Here you can try some authentic Italian cuisine made with carefully selected ingredients such as locally-grown vegetables and Ito fish, seafood sent directly from fishermen from all over the country, and Shizuoka brand meat. Their signature dish is the scampi with fresh pasta made with an abundance of prawns. The seafood acqua pazza, shown on TV and in magazines, is popular both for lunch and dinner.

This is an Italian restaurant on the coast around a 10-minute walk from Kawazu Station, in an old remodeled warehouse said to have been around for more than 150 years. Inside is a mature atmosphere, with thick beams and chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. Here one can enjoy unique regional Italian cuisine using the best of local ingredients including locally-sourced vegetables and seasonal fish, Izu beef, Amagi fowl, and spiny lobster unloaded at Kawazu Port. Both lunch and dinner require reservations (the latter two days before).

Very cosy interior, small so probably good to book. Decent Italian food if you need a break from Japanese cuisine. Very friendly

This is an Italian restaurant in Ito City, Shizuoka Prefecture, and the owner chef has been officially recognized as a professional who has made great use of the wonderful foodstuffs Shizuoka has to offer. They offer cuisine based around fresh Shizuoka produce such as local vegetables including Omuro Onsen lettuce, Mt. Fuji salmon, Asagiri Yogurton pork from the foot of Mt. Fuji, and Ashitaka beef. The reasonably-priced pasta lunch course, the assortment of local vegetables and the domestic beef cheek cooked in red wine are all popular. The terrace seating allows pets.

We made a late visit to this charming restaurant. They only have the menu in Japanese, but the chef spoke very good English and we ordered pasta and pizzas. The pizzas were small but absolutely...

Salute is an Italian restaurant located in Matsuzaki Town, Kamo County, Shizuoka Prefecture. It is easily recognizable with an Italian flag prominently displayed outside. Using local ingredients such as vegetables harvested early in the morning, seafood from Suruga Bay and fresh water from Amagi, the restaurant offers a complete range of handmade dishes from homemade spaghetti to pizzas and sauce. Their most popular dish is the peperoncino spaghetti with turbo and seasonal vegetables. You can also try various dishes that make use of the delicious flavor of the ingredients, such as spaghetti with the Izu specialty alfonsino, and tagliata with Shorthorn Wagyu. Accompanied pets are welcome on the terrace. It’s a lovely restaurant where you can enjoy a relaxing meal while looking out over the rural landscape and spring cherry blossom.

"This Italian restaurant is located a three-minute walk from Jogasaki-Kaigan Station on the Izu Kyuko Line. The homelike restaurant, which features a terrace with a miniature garden, serves cuisine made with the rich seasonal ingredients of the Izu region. Most popular of all is their seafood, which is sourced from Futo Fishing Port. We recommend their ""jizakana no carpaccio,"" which is made with the catch of the day, and their garlic butter roasted mussels, which has earned many repeat customers. Customers can even dine with their dog in the restaurant's garden terrace. The restaurant does not accept reservations for lunch service."

I speak no Japanese and they speak no English and you know what, it didnt matter; in fact it made it better. The Chef came out and we managed to agree on a pasta dish and a beer and it tasted great...

This Italian restaurant with a casual at-home atmosphere created by the warmth of its wooden tables and chairs as its walls, which are directed with the works of Izu Kogen pressed flower artist Reiko. There, guests can take their time to enjoy a meal or sweets. We also recommend their economical lunch menu.

    大通りから一本入ったところなので、少し迷いました。小さい看板があります。 クワトロフォルマッジのピザを頼みました。ブルーチーズも本格的で美味しかったです。 デザートも手作りで美味しかったです。

This Italian restaurant is in the Akao Herb & Rose Garden within Akao Resort Dukedom, which features a hotel, a hot spring bathhouse, and a rose garden. The interior is colored mainly in whites and browns for a high-quality space resembling a civilian home in southern Italy, in which you can partake of genuine Italian cuisine. From the window area, where you can see Sagami Bay, you can see all the way to Boso Peninsula. The lunches are made to match the season, using ingredients unique to Izu and Atami, including herbs, seafood, and in-season vegetables.

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
