    This marine product facility complex houses everything from an auction house to a market as well as an observation deck, dining hall, and other sightseeing attractions. It is located at Numazu Port in Numazu City, Shizuoka Prefecture. The first floor has a wholesale fish market, cargo handling space, and a marine unloading dock for coastal fishing vessels. On the second floor has a conveyor belt sushi restaurant where you can enjoy fresh catches as well as a seafood dining hall, a Hawaiian restaurant in the “INO Seafood Dining Hall,” the large “Byuo” water gate with a great view, and an observation deck from which you can see Mt. Fuji, not to mention an observation passageway from which you can observe the first floor. You can view the morning auction too, which runs from 5:45–approx. 7 a.m.

    Located in the town of Matsuzaki in Kamo County, Shizuoka Prefecture, Baigetsu-en is a venerable confectionary that has sold both Japanese and Western sweets since 1931. It is said to be the original home of one of Matsuzaki’s most famous sweets, Cherry Leaf Mochi. Consisting of mochi and sweet bean paste wrapped up in a leaf from a local cherry tree, this confection combines a salty flavor with a delicate sweetness as it melts in one’s mouth. Chohachi no Tatsu, a Japanese-style confection made by coating two layers of mochi in fine Wasanbon sugar, is also highly regarded. It also sells a wide variety of other sweets, including roll cakes, Monaka (bean jam between two crisp mochi wafers) and Kintsuba (gelatin covered with a rice batter).

    This confectionery is in Niihashi, Gotemba City, Shizuoka Prefecture in a simple, dark-colored building. Colorful packages with lovely sweets adorn the interior, along with original cakes made with seasonal ingredients. The “Ponyo Ponyo” cream puffs are the most popular item by far, and they’ve even been featured on TV. The crust is doughy and the filling nice and creamy, making it a delectable treat.

    ケーキを何個かかって帰りました。チョコレートケーキは濃厚なんだけど、飽きのこない味付けで食べやすかったです。

    This longstanding dried marine product shop is located along National Route 135 Higashiizu Town, Kamo County, Shizuoka Prefecture. The signboard with the big red bream serves as the landmark. It’s known for its sun-dried marine products without any additives, and you can always see various fish drying outside the shop. With the sea breeze blowing over them from the nearby ocean and the sun shining above, these fine products are soft and offer a superb salty taste. Especially popular are the high-quality “Inatori Kinme” red bream caught in Inatori, which come both dried and boiled.

    宿泊施設で食べたあじのひものの味が忘れられなく、立ち寄りました。主人は隣のLAWSONにいました。地産物の金目鯛のコーナーなどもあります。スペースは広くないですが、物揃えは良いと思います。

    This confectionery, located in Shimoda City in Shizuoka Prefecture, features authentic sweets baked by a couple who did their training in Tokyo. Lovely cakes made with seasonal fruits, chocolate, and other ingredients are available. The “asayaki nama roll” is especially popular and comes in plain, matcha, and fruit varieties. The “Shimoda retro” salt madeleines produced in Shimoda are popular as well. There’s a cafe area outside, so you can treat yourself to some cake and tea.

    Ajiya is a dried marine product store and dining hall inside the “Numazu Minato Shinsenkan” in Numazu City, Shizuoka Prefecture. It is run by the Numazu Fish Wholesaler Cooperative and offers high-quality Numazu dried goods at reasonable prices. The dining hall, in addition to dried goods, offers food made with fresh seafood delivered straight from the port. The “uncut boiled red bream set” along with the deluxe “Numazu rice bowl” and “dried horse mackerel set” offer a rich variety of menu options.

    新鮮館の中にある食堂ですが、この界隈ではかなりコスパが良い方だと思います。定食料理は新鮮でボリュームもあり満足でした。 店頭にはマグロのカマが特売されていたので、お土産としてゲットしました。

    This is a manju specialty shop near the famous “Shuzenji Temple” in Izu City, Shizuoka Prefecture. It is a well-known shop that is often featured on TV shows and in magazines. “Genraku Sesame Manju” which is known as the representative souvenir of Shuzenji is a black manju that has bamboo charcoal mixed in the dough. It is a masterpiece with the moist texture of the skin matching perfectly with the bean paste full of the aroma and deep taste of sesame. All sorts of Japanese sweets such as Yomogimanju and Joyomanju are sold in the store.

The tea leaves, completely steamed by the deep-steaming manufacturing method, become a twisted shape and are called “Guricha”, loved by the locals. Other than Guricha tea, additive-free ice-cream using Guricha is also sold and is becoming a popular product. The parking lot and inside of the shop is all barrier free.

    一緒に行った姪が食べたい!というので寄ってみました。抹茶ソフト、おいしかったです!ショップの方もお茶そのものもですが、その他いろいろあって楽しめます。

The famous “Ino Monaka” is a delicious dish of Tokachi produced red beans cooked over a direct flame for five hours to a paste, and sandwiched in a shell (the shape of a boar). It has been well-known as a souvenir of Izu since the early Showa period.

The madeleine cakes which Yukio Mishima, who spent his holidays in Shimoda, called “Japan’s best madeleine” has a moist texture without using milk or butter, and the flavor has remained unchanged since the 1950s. Also the lemon cake using natural lemon is a famous product that has continued for more than 50 years and is sold as a set with madeleine cakes.

    古き昭和の時代からあるこの店は、今もなおその趣は変わらず”洋菓子”店としてあります。今は、甘さも見た目も増してその味に慣れてしまってますが、控えめで上品な味は他の店にはない、この店の味を保っています。マドレーヌやレモンケーキは当時高級菓子で特別な日やご褒美の品でした。懐かしさと健闘している姿が店の構えからも伝わってきました。

It manufactures and sells Tokoroten made from the finest grade of red gelidium and spring water from the foothills of Mt. Amagi. One of its other popular products is completely sun-dried salt made from the mineral-rich waters of Suruga Bay processed by a traditional way. The manufacturing process of the salt can be seen with an advanced reservation.

    Ebiden is a specialist senbei (rice cracker) store located inside the Numazu Minato Shinsenkan building in Senbonminato Town, Numazu City. It sells a wide range of different types of senbei, including wasabi, sea urchin, octopus, burdock, and garlic flavors. One of the store’s best-known products is “Whole Grilled Squid Senbei,” made by pressing a whole squid and then grilling it.

    新鮮館の一番奥の左側にある煎餅屋。いろいろなエビを使った煎餅がラインナップ、大袋のみならず一人食べ切りの小袋があり、いろいろな煎餅が入ったミックス袋もある。もちろんエビ以外にもイカ焼き煎餅・青海苔煎餅・山葵煎餅等も多数もある。店舗横の厨房ではイカ焼き煎餅のプレスを行っていた。

    The JA Izu Mikan Winery, located in the Inatori district in Higashiizu Town, produces mikan (satsuma orange) wine. Besides mikan wine, made using locally-grown mikan oranges, the Winery also makes and sells other types of fruit wine, jams, etc. Visitors can taste the mikan wine (the Winery is almost the only place in Japan where this is made), and also bayberry wine, aloe wine etc. The Winery offers free tours of the production facility, after which visitors can purchase wine to take home.
