This is an art museum in Udogane, Shimoda City. Housed in this museum are the Modern Art collection of Uehara Shoji, the honorary chairman of Taisho Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., and the Buddhism Art collection of both of his parents, Shokichi and Koeda. The museum displays masterpieces from both the west and Japan including the Bridge at Argenteuil by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, the Portait of Reiko by Kishida Ryusei, and treasured statues of Buddha from the Heian and Kamakura eras, housed, respectively, in the Modern Art Gallery and the Buddhist Art Gallery.

This aquarium in Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka City was established by Tokai University's Social Education Center to further the efforts of social education. Tokai University's Oceanography Department also uses the facility to conduct educational of the ocean. The facility is split into two areas, the Aquarium in which a wide variety of sea life is bred and raised, and the Science Museum where you can have fun learning about the sea. There is also a museum shop where you can purchase souvenirs.

東海大学の自然系博物館です。近くには水族館もありセット入場券ごお得です。中はそんなに広くないのですが、細かく色々と展示されていて面白いです。また3階は恐竜の化石が展示されているのですが迫力がありました。

This plum garden located in the city of Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture was first opened in 1886 and is famous for its “ume” (or Japanese plum/apricot) trees considered to be the earliest blooming in Japan, and other fall foliage, considered to occur the latest in Japan. In addition to 59 varieties and 472 individual plum trees, the garden is also dotted with some 380 deciduous trees of other species, allowing visitors to enjoy beautiful seasonal scenery while strolling about the grounds. The garden’s “Daiichi-go” (“Number One”) plum tree generally blossoms around late November to early December, while the garden’s various other varieties gradually come into bloom one after the other from January through March. The Atami Baien Festival is held from mid-January to mid-March, and during this time a footbath facility and souvenir shop are opened on the garden grounds. Geisha, rakugo comedic storytelling, and other performances are also held during the festival period.

"This art museum has a unique exterior, seeming to look like mossy-covered rock, which serves as a landmark. On display are sculptures and paintings by Seiko Sawada, a sculptor who received designation as an Honorary Citizen of Atami and the Order of Culture Merit. Having studied under Zuiun Yamamoto, the top pupil of Koun Takamura, Mr. Sawada continued creating works in a wide range of artistic fields, including wood sculptures, paintings, pottery, and printings, until he passed at the age of 93. Teeming with powerful vivacity, his works are well regarded as communicating at lot of romance when seen. Displayed in several ancient Egyptian exhibits and highly praised for its size and material value, the ""Egyptian coffin: top lid"" is said the finest item is Mr. Sawada's collection."

熱海梅園の梅まつりに行った時に、梅園内にある記念美術館に入りました。澤田政廣氏のことはあまりしらなかったのですが、仏像彫刻をはじめとする木像などの彫刻は迫力があり、彫刻の下絵も展示されていたのも面白いと思いました。入口にはステンドグラスかあり、記念館の周囲にもブロンズ像がいくつか展示してありました。

This is a treasure museum located adjacent to Ryosen-ji Temple grounds and is designated as a National Historic Site as the place where the Japan-US Treaty of Peace and Amity was concluded. The museum differs from general historical archives as it doesn’t just have materials related to the opening of Japan to the world and original documents, it also has video displays. There are collections on display with the theme of Perry, Blackships, the Nanban period and Intercultural exchange, and also a collection on display with the theme of “gender and religion”. The museum is located 10 minutes by foot from Izukyu-line Shimoda Station.

"This museum about ships and the port is located along the Shimizu Marine Road. On display are models of boats connected with Shimizu Port, ship-related items necessary for setting sail, and freight-loading tools used by dock workers. Centering on the theme of Shimizu Port-designated as a Specially Important Port/Core International Port-the birth of the port, the history and connections of the region, and the history of people with the ocean are described. It is loving called ""Verkehr"", the German word for ""transportation."" At the jointly connected ""Kanzume Memorial"", they provide explanations about the canning industry of Shizuoka and Shimizu, which began with the manufacture of tuna fish oil canned goods."

This museum is in Tateno, Iwata City. This museum exhibits artifacts pertaining to the origins of scent, allowing one to experience fragrance through time, the history of which reaches as far back as to the four great civilizations of the world. At the fragrance experience corner one can try your hand at mixing fragrances and sandblasted bottles. In the adjoining terrace cafe is over 200 books on fragrance one can leisurely relax with free refill drinks.

A rose garden in Shimada City, Shizuoka Prefecture with 8,700 roses of 360 varieties from around the world, which you can see blooming all year round. Inside the park, in addition to the rose garden there are a large almost 1,000 square meter greenhouse as well as smaller greenhouses. Festivals are held in the spring and the fall when the roses are at their peak. There are also classes held on how to prune and cultivate roses.

Shimogamo Tropical Botanical Garden is a 15-minute drive from Shimoda Station right near the Shimogamo Nettai Shokubutsuen Mae bus stop. It is unique for making use of heat from Shimogamo Hot Spring to grow tropical plants in a hothouse. Ever since 2014, admission has been free. Visitors can not only see hibiscus, bougainvillea, and other tropical plants throughout the year but also see many plants that are unique to each of the four seasons. Visitors never get tired of the splendid colors and unusual shapes of these plants. Some plants are available for sale or rent. The onsite parlor sells miracle fruit, sherbet, and fresh fruit juice.

Kakegawa Ninomaru Museum is just a one-minute walk from the Kitamon bus stop and a 10-minute drive from the Kakegawa Interchange. It is an art museum located in Kakegawa Castle Park, and its prime exhibits are the Kinoshita Collection of craft items, especially those related to smoking, and the Suzuki Collection of late 19th century and early 20th century paintings in the Japanese style. Many works of local artists are displayed and stored here. Every effort has been made to allow visitors to enjoy the exhibits to the greatest extent possible. The Japanese-style paintings are displayed with consideration given to the proper order, and the craft items can be viewed with magnifying glasses or double mirrors, allowing visitors can see the details. The museum also holds a variety of special exhibitions.

The Nosaka Automata Museum is an art museum located in Yawatano, Ito City, Shizuoka Prefecture, which stores and displays antique ‘automata’ dolls that can move by mechanical means. Automata produced by European watch makers in the 18th and 19th centuries are works of art that use one spring as its driving force without using any electrical power. In addition to the exhibition of a number of valuable automata that would have attracted aristocrats of the day, there is also a corner which shows, several times a day, the automata in action.

An art museum in Kannami-cho, Tagata County, Shizuoka Prefecture with pieces including a bronze statue of Bhaisajyaguru from the Heian period and a bronze statue of the Amitabha triad from the Kamakura period. The museum was established with the religious devotion of the locals and a desire to protect and maintain their cultural assets. This is an exhibition hall within Mishima-taisha shrine along the Prefectural Route 22 in Omiya-cho, Mishima City. Housed here are the priestly treasures and cultural artifacts of the Mishima-taisha shrine handed down from the priests and Yadabe estate. Included in these are the National Treasure, the decorative Umemakie cosmetics box (generally, a replica is on display) said to be donated from Masako Hojo. The treasures on exhibit are switched out a few times a year, and the adjoining gallery is also available for other exhibits.

Shizuoka Numazu-shi Heda 2710-1

A museum located a 75-minute drive from the Tomei-Numazu Interchange. It was established in 1969 as part of the Meiji Centennial Project and presents materials connected with the construction of Japan's first real Western-style ship, the Heda-go, along with a mock-up of the Diana-go, which is kept here and which the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry has designated as part of the Heritage of Industrial Modernization. The adjacent Museum of History and Folklore provides information about the history of the fishing industry in Heda, while the Suruga Bay Deep Sea Creatures Museum displays deep sea life forms that have been caught in the waters of Suruga Bay.

資料館には、専用駐車場があります。御浜の海水浴場は、子供が小さいころ、家族で何度も来ており、此の資料館は、小生は初入館です。ロシアのディアナ号を戸田港で修復したそうです。水族館が併設されています。

"This art museum stands on the slope of a mountain overlooking the sea of Izu and Atami. Centered on the theme of ""Coexisting with Nature"", it expresses the worldview of Koshiro Toda, the trailblazer in the field of Japan's educational picture books. Surrounded in greenery, the art museum building, from architectural design to interior design, from furniture to the garden, has all been designed by Mr. Toda. On display are many of his works, including the original drawings of picture books he drew, educational picture books, and the picture book he drew for Osamu Dazai's classic ""Run, Melos!"" In the adjacent restaurant, you can relax while taking in the view of mountains and the sea."

山の中腹で眺めも良い場所にあり、ドライブのついでに寄るには良い場所です。思ったほど絵は展示されていませんが、絵本をスクリーンで上演していたり、知らずにボーっと絵本の世界に浸っていました。心地よい時間でした。

１０時頃、入館する。周りは、行政の関係建物などがあり、駐車場も、割合利用できるとおもいます。館内は、ほとんどパスして、公園内の散歩するのがいいと思います。犬を連れて散歩している方もあり、近所の方が来ている感じです。かぐや姫会館も、そこそこ充実した展示で、お勉強ができます。

This antique jewelry museum in Yawatano, Ito City, Shizuoka Prefecture, displays jewelry and dresses mainly from the Victorian period. Many of the exhibits are from the 19th century when capitalists flourished due to their wealth from the colonies. You can see a number of precious items such as a Tiffany pendant, a tiara with 620 diamonds, and a delicately crafted cameo. There is also a space where you can try on some antique style dresses and have your photograph taken.
