This natural hot spring facility is right off the Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway's Shokawa Interchange. Adjacent to roadside station Sakura-no-Sato Shokawa, it's known for high temperatures and bubbling up unaided. They provide soap, shampoo, and conditioner. They also rent face and bath towels, so you can stop in without your bathing gear. They have a large wooden indoor communal bath, and their spacious outdoor bath lets you soak at your leisure while listening to the sound of the nearby waterfall and gazing up at Shokawa's starry night sky. It also has a family bath available for private use and a special needs bath.

Stopped for lunch here on our way back to Nagoya. Surprisingly, they served fabulous chicken wings here! Theres also fresh hida milk in a vending machine. Did not have time try the onsen. But its...

This is a public open-air bath in Tochio Onsen, Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture, a gender-segregated bathing facility built on the flood plain of the Gamata River. There is nothing enclosing the direction of the river, and the views of the Northern Alps’ (Hida Mountains) splendid mountains and flowing river are breathtaking. Surrounded by rich nature, one can spend time relaxing in a truly open environment. Since it is open until evening, one can also enjoy dusk and starry sky viewing. There is a dressing room but no reception, so entry fees go into the unmanned cashbox.

Its a nice warm bath, and you can see the mountains (they were covered in fog, which was beautiful) and hear the river. I guess you can see the river from the mens side but not from the womens...

Gifu Takayama-shi Okuhida Onsenkyo Nakao 442-7
"This day-use bathing facility in ""Shinhotaka Onsen,"" is located in the deepest part of the Okuhida hot spring village. From the outoside bath, you can gaze upon Mt. Shakujo, with steep rock cliffs that resemble folding screens. In the rest area inside the building, you can have fun operating railroad cars on the largest railway diorama in Gifu prefecture (extra charge). There is also a spacious restaurant where you can taste yakiniku set meals made with top-ranking Hida beef. There are numerous unique menu items, such as a bowl of rice topped with onsen tamago and raw egg, Hida beef curry, and the regional specialty pickles steak."

Looking for a decent lunch place, we ended up here. Had a fried chicken rice bowl for 850Y and it was very tasty! Also good when craving a slightly Asian/western meal. Good and friendly service too...

This hot spring facility is adjacent to the “Sangaku-kan” visitor’s center in Nabedaira Highland, which is at the central point between Shinhotaka Ropeway 1 and 2. There are two open-air baths each for men and women with water flowing directly from the hot spring, allowing visitors to bask in the natural scenery of Nabedaira Highland as they bathe.

This outdoor footbath is at Shin-Hotaka Onsen's Nakao Highland. Surrounded by natural boulders, there are foot pressure point massage boards laid out here and there made of bamboo and stone, and benches where you can take a rest. It has a great panorama of the Northern Japan Alps, and on clear days you'll get a sweeping view of Okuhida's prominent peaks, including Mt. Yakedake, Mt. Shakujodake, and Mt. Kasagadake. The Golden Week holiday period when the cherry blossoms bloom while there's still snow on the surrounding peaks is especially beautiful. They only ask a small token payment to help with cleaning expenses.

    とても眺めのよい足湯で気持ちがよいです。但し、浅い所は殆ど水の状態です。 殆ど誰もいなくのんびり出来ます。ちゃんとした駐車場はないですが、2台ほど 駐車できるスペースがあります。

This homely hot spring inn is located in the vicinity of various tourist attractions such as Goshikigahara and Shirakawago. The inner baths are two large public baths and one hinoki (Japanese cypress) bath. In the rotenburo (open-air bath) there is also a goemonburo (cauldron bath). They offer dishes using local ingredients such as char and Hida pork, and the recommended dessert is “marugoto tomato no kakigori,” a shaved ice treat with momotaro tomatoes that can be enjoyed all year long. In addition, you can eat pufferfish dishes in the winter. All of the rooms are Japanese-style tatami mat rooms, and there is even a banquet hall. Because the hall can accommodate large groups of people, the ryokan is popular as a venue for student training camps. (Category / Hot Spring / Hot Spring Bath)
