About 10-minute drive from the Hirugano Kogen Smart Interchange (only accessible with electronic toll collection (ETC) cards) this rainbow trout farm is surrounded by the rich nature of the Hirugano Highland. From the end of April to the end of October, they hold fishing activities and trout catching experiences at their fishpond. Rainbow trout caught with rods and bait can be charcoal grilled and eaten on the spot. They also stock the pond with iwana char and amago trout that they'll prepare for you salt-grilled or fried. The leisure spot also has a wood lathe for rainy-day wood working activities.

Gifu Areas

around-area-map

Tucked away in the very center of Japan, Gifu prefecture houses mountains, old towns, and one of Japan’s greatest hot springs, Gero Onsen. A tour of the prefecture’s traditional architecture will take you from the mountain-enveloped wooden streets of Takayama to the mountain village of Shirakawago, where visitors can explore 250-year-old thatched roofed houses known as gassho-zukuri.
