All sites have electric hook-ups. At an altitude of about 1,300 meters in Matsumoto City's Nagawa area, it is chilly in the morning and evening even in the summer. The cottages also have baths, providing a comfortable stay. You can also go fishing or swim in the nearby river, fly kites in the open area, and hike the nearby trails. Their Toge Michi restaurant at the entrance to the campsite serves Toji soba noodles, a Nagawa local favorite.

A 30-minute drive from Matsumoto Station and a 45-minute drive from the Matsumoto Interchange. This campground can be reached by taking the seasonal scheduled bus, getting off at the Sanjiro bus stop, and walking 10 minutes. Situated on the Utsukushigahara Plateau 1,500 meters above sea level, the campground is cool, necessitating long sleeve clothing even in summer. The campground is open from late April to mid-October and may only be used with an advance reservation; reservations are accepted year round. Many of the campground's customers stay here before or after going mountain climbing. The campground's cottages have lofts, baths, and toilets, as well as a space for enjoying barbecuing. On rainy days, guests can even barbecue indoors. The campground has 20 sites, including ones with spectacular views of the Northern Japan Alps and, at night, star-filled skies.

Nagano Areas

around-area-map

Nagano prefecture is an exciting mix of mountains, hot spring monkeys, and preserved Edo history. At the heart of the Japanese Alps, Nagano is one of the country’s most popular destinations, whether in winter for its snow sports and the much-loved Jigokudani Monkey Park or in the warmer months for discovering the undulating hills on foot. For fantastic Edo architecture, head to the Kiso Valley for a 60-kilometer stretch of quaint wooden buildings that marked the Nakasendo route 200 years ago.
