Nagano Pref. Uedashi Sanadamachimotohara 2984-1

This is a museum in Sanada Town, Ueda City, Nagano Prefecture. displaying materials related to the Sanada family. The history of the Sanada family is introduced through documents and arms focused mainly on Yukitaka Sanada, Masayuki Sanada, and Yukimura Sanada, members of the 24 generals of Shingen Takeda, and Yukimura’s brother Nobuyuki Sanada, the first lord of the Matsushiro feudal domain. A highlight is the sight of the restored armor and helmets belonging to Masayuki, Yukimura and Nobuyuki. At the connected Sanada-an one can try local cuisine like chestnut and sesame rice balls and Soba-Suiton (open only weekends and holidays from April 15 to the beginning of November, except in May when it is open every day).

おはぎとすいとんをいただきました。特別味がいいとか素材がずば抜けているわけではありませんが、おばあちゃんたちの素朴な料理をいただけて満足でした。値段は安いです。

Nagano Kitasaku-gun Karuizawamachi Kyudo 1570-4

An art museum located in Karuizawa Town, Kitasaku County, Nagano Prefecture. The museum's collection consists of 1,000 oil paintings, drawings, and other pieces by celebrated modern painter Kazu Wakita. The museum is open from early June to early November. In addition to displaying primarily the works of Wakita, the museum also holds workshops, lectures, and concerts.

"The oldest zoo in Nagano Prefecture in operation since 1926, it is located inside Komoro Castle Ruins Kaikoen Park. Approximately 86 kinds of animals are bred in the zoo, and events are regularly held such as ""Penguin Mogumogu Petapeta Time"" (when the penguins go for a walk), feeing time when you can feed ponies and deer, and time when you can interact with guinea pigs. Many families visit mainly on the weekends."

懐古園の中にある昔ながらの雰囲気がある動物園です。結構いろいろな動物がいますが、ときどきなくなってしまった動物の訃報が張りだしてあったりして、ちょっとしみじみなごみます。

A ski resort which can be reached from the number two Sakudaira Parking Area on the Joshin-Etsu Expressway, making it possible to go skiing here without having to get off the expressway. Around 150 kilometers from the Nerima Interchange, the resort can almost always be reached without the need for snow chains; in addition, the resort experiences fair weather 90% of the time. The South Parada area offers sweeping views of the Yatsugatake Mountains and the Saku Plain , while the North Parada area commands a view of Mt. Asama; the two areas are connected via lift, and resort-goers can ski both areas. 80% of the resorts courses are designed for beginner and intermediate skiers, making it possible for customers to enjoy relaxing skiing along with the spectacular scenery. From spring through fall, visitors can enjoy attractions such as a super long slide and fun obstacle course.

Utsukushi-ga-Hara Highlands which is a part of the largest quasi-national park in Nagano Prefecture is the largest plateau in Japan sitting at an elevation of close to 2,000 meters above sea level. The superb 360 degree panorama rewards visitors with views overlooking the Northern and Southern Alps, and Mt. Fuji. The mountain top Utsukushi-ga-Hara Highlands has trails and hiking paths so you can fully enjoy the magnificent nature and fresh air.

This picture book museum displays original drawings and materials associated with picture books. In the First Exhibition Hall, you can view research materials on the culture and history of picture books. A permanent Peter Rabbit exhibition is also housed here. In the Second Exhibition Hall temporary exhibitions are held throughout the year depending on the season. The museum shop sells limited edition products related to the various temporary exhibitions. There are more than 1,800 picture books in the picture book library. The ‘Mori no Ie’ event space can be used for wedding receptions.

人が3組くらいしかいなくて、静かで、とっても良かったです。お庭が綺麗でした。たくさんの絵本、ゆっくりみました。

Nagano Komoro-shi Hishidaira 2805-1

An art museum located near the top of Mt. Iizuna identifiable by its hexagonal steeple. The museum exhibits key pieces from the more than 50 year long career of Nihonga Japanese painter Eisetsu Shiratori, who was born in Komoro City and served as a member of the Japan Art Academy. The museum also displays works by Eisetsu's mentor Shinsui Ito, plus many works by locally-born artists and painters connected to the Komoro Gijuku school. Each year in summer, the museum holds an exhibition of work by insect photographer Kazuo Unno and, in winter, the museum hosts the Japan Art Direction Exhibition, which is only held at three locations nationwide.

上信越道小諸インター付近。小高い丘の上に立ちサイロみたいな六角形の塔がランドマーク。入館料５００円。ＪＡＦ提示で一般団体券４００円。小諸市名誉市民の小山敬三画伯や白鳥英雪画伯のコーナーもありますが、市民ギャラリー的展示も散見。美術館から見渡す三六〇度のパノラマは眺望百選。目を見張るものがあります。

軽井沢を訪れた際こちらの資料館へ立ち寄りました。遺跡からの出土品や中山道の事、それに日本有数の別荘地として発展した軽井沢の事が詳しく紹介されていました。

A workshop producing the fine sausages and hams of Shinshu Ham, imbued with the goodness of Nagano's abundant natural environment. A five-minute walk from Karuizawa Station, their items are made with skilled craftsmanship and carefully selected ingredients. By reserving at least a week in advance, you can join a workshop making Kurobuta pork wieners by hand under the guidance of an artisan. Have fun with your family and friends, and when you're done you can eat the wieners you've made on the spot. The cafe restaurant serves super juicy frankfurters along with draft beer.

ソーセージの腸詰体験をしました。大人のグループで参加しましたがとても楽しかったです。小さなお子様連れのご家族もいらっしゃいました。お子様も楽しそうにしていました。出来上がったソーセージは、一部はその場で試食でき、残りは持ち帰りになります。すごく美味しかったです。体験料金もそんなに高くなかったので大変満足しました。

Shirakaba Resort Family Land Ikenotaira is near Lake Shirakaba and features many facilities besides the theme park attractions, such as an art museum and sports activities. You can bring food and drink onto the premises, and pets are allowed with leashes and cages. There’s an adjoining hotel as well with amenities for nursing children. There’s something for everyone at this nature-surrounded facility regardless of age. It’s about 35 minutes from the Suwa Minami Interchange or Suwa Interchange on the Chuo Expressway.

Nagano Komoro-shi Hachi Man 2157-2

A 10-minute drive from the Komoro Interchange and a 15-minute drive from the Saku Interchange. This farm is located a short distance north from the Asama Sunline intersection. The farm's 15 thousand square meter grounds include a lavender garden with 10 thousand lavender plants. The scent of essential oils extracted at the farm's distillation plant can be smelled even from the parking area. In addition to lavender, the farm grows over 350 varieties of herbs and visitors can also enjoy the sight and smell of colorful flowers here. The adjoining La Terre cafe serves herbal teas and lavender soft serve ice cream.

最高のタイミングで行けました。薔薇、ポピー、ニゲラ、カモミールが咲き誇っていました。通路はチップ材が敷き詰めていて歩いていて気持ち良くなります。小諸駅の観光案内所で割引券をもらったので二割引で入場できました。また行きたい薔薇園です。

Nagano Minamisaku-gun Sakuho Machi Hozumi 1429-1

An art museum which displays drawings by Togyu Okumura, an artist who stood at the top of the Japanese painting world. The entirety of the museum's collection was donated by Okumura; encompassing 207 sketches and calligraphy works including those created by the artist, the content of the museum's exhibit is changed three times a year. Okumura was active throughout his life, paining until the age of 101, and here visitors can come in contact with the artist's work in its rawest form.

佐久穂町出身かと思ったら、戦時中疎開されていたそうです。素描画がたくさん展示されています。二階のシャンデリアや格天井、柱時計のカチカチいう音が、とても素敵でした。お庭も歩けます。

The Usuda Star Dome lets visitors enjoy a genuine stargazing experience, with a reflecting telescope featuring a 60-centimeter aperture being the main attraction. The “eyelid dome” and “sliding roof” where the telescopes are set up are bigger than normal domes and display countless stars in the night sky between observation sessions. When the weather isn’t good for stargazing, you can enjoy a star slideshow. It’s about a 20-minute drive from the Sakuminami Interchange on the Chubu-Odan Expressway.

運動公園を通り過ぎた山頂付近にあるこじんまりとした天文台。夏は観測会を開催しているので調べてから行くべし。駐車場脇にキャンプできるスペースもあるし周辺の森も散策にオススメ。

A day-use hot spring bathhose with a magnificent view of Mt. Asama and an abundant flow of hot spring water. The ample facilities include a small outdoor bath with a terrific view, a jet bath that delivers pleasant stimulation to body and mind, a dry sauna, and a bath with facilities for the physically challenged (available with a reservation). The park next door is fully equipped with a mallet golf course, a playground, and a promenade. It's great stopping in for a soak after working up a sweat with all the park's activities. There are also value plans like services that alternate weekly. They come with coffee and let you soak in the baths too.

A strawberry farm situated 1,000 meters above sea level a 20-minute drive from the Usui-Karuizawa Interchange. The farm raises choice strawberries in greenhouses surrounded by the naturally lush highlands of Karuizawa. In winter, the farm grows some 30 thousand strawberry plants, and in winter and spring visitors can enjoy picking five varieties of strawberries, including Benihoppe and Yayoihime. The farm's clean and tidy greenhouses are kept around 25° C and its strawberries are grown on raised platforms for easy reach, and visitors can enjoy a relaxing time picking strawberries while taking in the vast beauty of Mt. Asama. The farm offers 30-minute and 40-minute all-you-can-eat picking courses and a course which allows you to purchase the strawberries you picked by weight to take home.
