A museum dedicated to the Japanese poet Kobayashi Issa located in Shinano Town, Kamiminochi County, Nagano Prefecture. After Issa's death, the storehouse he lived in was designated a National Historic Site, and this museum was built in commemoration. Inside, visitors can view personal affects and books which belonged to the writer. The museum also holds regular events which attract large numbers of people, such as the Issa Memorial National Haiku Tournament and Issa lecture courses.

This public bathhouse is a symbol of Yamada Hot Springs and has a history of more than 200 years. The wooden building, with a hipped roof and Chinese cusped gable built in the Momoyama architecture style, has the scent of steam and gentle wood and a hot spring charm. There are two types of bath inside, a hot water bath and a cooler water bath and visitors you can enjoy a bath at the temperature they prefer.

A day trip hot spring bathhouse located a 15-minute drive from Mure Station on the Shinano Railway. The bathhouse gets its water from a hot spring in the Izuna-Higashi Highlands. These waters are said to treat such ailments as chronic skin diseases, chronic women's diseases, nerve pain, cuts, and burns. The bathhouse has an outdoor bath with a view of the five Hokushin mountains, Mt. Myoko, Mt. Madaraoyama, Mt. Kurohime, Mt. Togakushi, and Mt. Iizuna, which stand on the border between Nagano and Niigata where bathers can enjoy a relaxing soak along with the area's natural beatury. Meanwhile, the bathhouse' indoor bathing area has a sweeping view of Mt. Iizuna from its large windows. In the sauna room, you can sooth your cares away while watching television.

This memorial hall in Toyosato, Nozawaonsen Village is dedicated to Takano Tatsuyuki, renowned lyricist known for such songs as “Kokyo (Hometown),” “Haru ga Kita (Spring is Here),” and “Oborozuki Yo (Moonlit Night).” You can view such articles as his drafts, letters, paintings and writings, and more. Shiko Munakata, Masaaki Tanaka, Shiro Kasamatsu’s works are also stored here and showcased during special exhibitions. There’s also a cafe, museum shop, and carillon that plays Takano Tatsuyuki’s songs at regular intervals.

温泉の合間にいきました。観光にはぴったりです。野沢温泉はとても小さな集落ですのでどの旅館からも徒歩圏内です。

"An art museum built to commemorate the Nagano Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. It features bottles and vases made in the ancient Roman Empire from iridescent glass. You can spot the adjacent conical restaurant from far away, making it a good landmark. They serve meals and tea. The elliptical museum, which has a theme of ""Coexisting with Nature,"" was designed by world-renowned architect Kurokawa Kisho. Exhibitions include works by Kodama Katei , who was Yamanouchi-machi native and a Nanga painter, and Yoshimoto Yumiko, a contemporary glass artist."

Nagano Nakano-shi Nakano 1150

A museum located in Higashiyama Park whose design is based off azekura-zukuri log storehouse architecture. The museum preserves and displays a collection of over 2,000 clay dolls from around the country, including Nakano tsuchi ningyo dolls. Visitors can also enjoy fun activity in which they can receive a plain white figurine to paint how they like. The clay doll painting activity takes between 30 minutes and three hours. Surrounded by the museum's warm, woody design, you can decorate your very own tsuchi ningyo doll.

A ski resort situated along the Asama-Shirane-Shiga Sawayaka Highway in Hirao, Yamanouchi Town, Shimotakai County, Nagano Prefecture. Situated 2,307 meters above sea level, the ski resort is Japan's highest outfitted with chair lifts, and here visitors can enjoy skiing on slopes boasting 360 degree panoramic views and high quality snow until May. There's also a cafe at the resort's mountaintop observatory.

３／２０に訪れました。広い志賀高原の中でも標高が最も高いため、雪質はこの時期でもかなり良いです。第３スカイペアに乗ると分かりますが、ぐんぐんと標高を稼いでいくあの高度感はたまらないものがあります。ただ、コースは上部は林道主体です。上級者にはショートカットする急斜面もありますが、中級以下だとぐるぐる回って下りるだけになってしまいます。

This is a lake dammed by the lava flow of Mt. Madarao, and because the shape of the lake is similar to a cotton rose flower it is sometimes called Lake Fuyo. From the lake shore one can look out over Mt. Madarao and Mt. Kurohime. Between mid-April and mid-November there are excursion boats along Lake Nojiri, and it is particularly popular among visitors during the autumn when the leaves are changing.

A 40-minute drive from the Toyota-Iiyama Interchange. This ski resort is located in an area which receives some of the greatest snowfalls in Japan, and many skiers come here seeking its abundant quantities of high quality powder snow. The resort's Family Course and scenic, curving Kamoshika Course are perfect for beginners and families with children. The Orion Course and Igaguri Course, which boast superb mountaintop views; and the Mamushi Course, covered with powdery, un-compacted snow; are recommended for intermediate and advanced skiers. A sledding hill is located in front of the central rest house, ensuring that even small children can enjoy safe fun here. The resort's restaurant serves all-you-can-eat nozawana pickles made by local mothers.

You’ll find this summer-only botanical garden on the peak of Mt. Higashidate, which is accessible via gondola from Hoppo Hot Spring or the summer lift from Takaamagahara. You’ll find 500 types of Shiga Kogen alpine plants on the site, part of which was used for the giant slalom course for the Nagano Olympics. The groups of Nikkokisuge plants that bloom in early summer are especially famous. There’s also an observation platform in front of the gondola station at the peak from which you can view the Northern Alps (Hida Mountains) and more.

The classy cake shop sells all sorts of treats made with chestnuts such as Kuri Kanoko and Kuri Mushi packed with chestnut jam made only with whole chestnuts and sugar. This memorial hall introduces the achievements of Shinpei Nakayama, a composer that has left numerous famous songs including children's songs. Established in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of his birth, besides a listening corner where you can listen to songs he wrote, the hall exhibits personal items, correspondence and work collections. The Naena Falls, chosen as one of Japan’s Top 100 Falls, is a waterfall with a 55m drop along Sekigawa River and the borders of Nagao prefecture. The two most recommended seasons are spring, just when the snow starts to melt, and mid-October, with autumnal leaves. It is also referred to as “Earthquake Falls” since the earth rumbles as the amount of water increases in spring. You can reach the falls in about 15 minutes by following the promenade.
