    The Buddha is the principal object of worship here at this Soto sect temple in Obuse Town, Kamitakai County, Nagano Prefecture. Ogino Bingo no Kami Jorin, Lord of Karida Castle, laid the foundation stone in 1472, and the Zen priest Futaku Genkei founded the temple. On the ceiling of the main hall you can see the 21 tatami mat sized painting “The Great Ho-O”, painted by Katsuhika Hokusai. As well as this impressive painting there are many other places of interest such as the mausoleum of Fukushima Masanori, a Japanese daimyo of the late Sengoku period, and the pond with inscription where Kobayashi Issa composed his well-known haiku “Thin little frog, Don’t give in, Issa is here”.

    Beautiful Sakura with temple in the background. The taxi ride is about 5-10 min or 30 walk from Obuse train station.

    "A Buddhist temple located in Karida, Obuse Town, Kamitakai County. The temple's Yakushi-do hall was built in 1408; a renowned example of early Muromachi period architecture, the hall has been designated a National Important Cultural Property. The temple is also known as the ""Tsumagoi Yakushi"" (""Wife's Love Healing Buddha"") and many worshipers visit the temple to pray for luck in finding a suitable match. Mameya is a restaurant on the temple's grounds serves tofu cuisine, while Daikoku Oyaki-dokoro is a teahouse and shop."

    7/6に訪問です。 木島平の、のどかな田んぼの、細いあぜ道を通ってたどり着きました。 本堂の赤い大きな屋根が遠くからでも良く見えて分かりやすかったです。 お寺の駐車場にクルマを停めさせてもらい、本堂のまわりにある蓮の棚田(？)を見学させて頂きました。 見頃は7月中旬との事なので、まだちょっと早いかな？と思いましたが、本堂裏の棚田には、ポツポツと綺麗なピンクの古代蓮が咲いていました。 表の方はまだ全...

    "A Buddhist temple located in Toyoda, Iiyama City. The temple was founded over 600 years ago. Due to the 800 stocks and 10,000 flowers of bigleaf hydrangeas which grow along the approach to the temple, it is also known as the ""Hydrangea Temple,"" and a Hydrangea Festival is held in the area from the end of June. The temple is also known for its ""Pokkuri"" (""sudden"") Kannon statute, which celebrates Kannon's happily sudden and painless entry into the afterlife."

    紫陽花が有名ということで訪れました。 普段みる寺の紫陽花は手入れがされているのですが、 この寺の場合は、伸び放題で荒々しい感じでした。 他では見れない、紫陽花に飲み込まれたような場所でした。 初めて行ったときは駐車場に迷うかもしれません。 紫陽花の参道の奥の右側に駐車場があります。

    "This Buddhist temple's history stretches back to the Kamakura period; after repeated changes to its name, denomination, and location, it came to settle in its current location in 1604. The temple served as the model for the Rengeji Temple appearing in Toson Shimazaki's novel ""The Broken Commandment,"" and a monument on the grounds is inscribed with the book's first chapter. The temple complex was damaged during the Great Fire of Iiyama and only the original Rokkakudo hall stands today."

    This Zen monastery is located in Oaza Iiyama Kamikura, Iiyama City. Dokyo Etan, the son of Yukimura Sanada’s older brother, Nobuyuki Sanada, became a monk when he was young and traveled to many temples in Tohoku and elsewhere. After training, he returned and founded this monastery. His disciple, Hakuin Ekaku, is said to have achieved nirvana here.

    飯山市にある称念寺は、紅葉の名所でもあります。 11月20日に行きましたが少し色あせていましたが、 綺麗な紅葉が見られました。 もう少し早めの方がいいかもしれません。

    たかやしろ見晴らし街道沿いにある山の中のお寺。 境内脇にも駐車場がありますが街道沿いの駐車場に駐めて斜面の桜を楽しみながら散策する方がおすすめです。 さすがに千本桜の寺と言われるだけあります。 山門脇に搖厳枝垂桜という名前のついた一本桜がありますが、境内を囲うように桜があり、春の陽光に白く輝く桜で溢れている印象でした。 立ち枯れの紫陽花もたくさんあったので、紫陽花の季節もよいと思われます。
