    An old fashioned coffee shop with a retro Showa atmosphere situated along a back street in the Shibu Onsen hot spring district. This long-standing establishment has been in business for over 50 years and is operated by the woman owner, now over 90 years old. The only coffee on the menu is a single original bean blend. Each authentic, aromatic cup is made to order - first, only the amount of beans necessary to make your cup are ground, then your cup is slowly nel drip brewed. Occasionally you might get some free pieces of seasonal fruit with your order as well.

    A Western confectionary shop which started as a Japanese confectionary shop when the original owner, a samurai from Iiyama Castle, started it. The shop's Hirano Roll cakes consist of a fine, moist sponge cake rolled around whipped cream made with condensed milk; customers love its delicate, melt-in-your-mouth flavor. The marble cheesecake, chocolat, and popular shortcake made according to a recipe unchanged since the shop opened its doors are also recommended.

    The patiserrie sells cakes and choux, as well as have a sit down area for eating coffee and cakes on premises. Cash Only. Pre-order for larger cakes recommened.

    This is a small coffee shop located alongside the prefectural road that follows the shoreline of Lake Nojiri in the town of Shinano, Kamiminochi County, Nagano Prefecture. They pride themselves on their homemade cakes and tarts made with seasonal ingredients and chocolates, and the desserts are popular for having a mild taste that goes well with black tea. The shop also sells handmade fresh-baked bread and jam, and their jams which use Shinshu-produced fruits and vegetables in their ingredients are popular as souvenirs. Business hours start from 12 noon (or from 10 am only during the summer).

    A mountain peak café on top of Mt. Ryuo located in Yamanouchi Town, Shimotakai County, Nagano Prefecture. From the café’s 1,770 meter high terrace, you can look down on Nagano City, Iiyama City, and Kijimadaira Village; depending on the weather, a sea of clouds hides the world below like something out of a fairy tale. Many of the café’s menu items are modeled after the image of a world above the clouds, including such popular choices as “cloud sea pie soup” made with nemagaridake (a type of sasa bamboo); and coffee topped with a cloud-shaped marshmallow. Relax and enjoy a cup of coffee in one hand while gazing at the view from the terrace.

The small interior is a simple space based on white and wood. The cafe serves only drinks and its popular Mont Blanc cake filled with nut ice-cream and custard cream topped with plenty of Japanese chestnut paste. Tea and coffee brands are specially selected to suit the taste of the Mont Blanc cake.

    This restaurant is inside the Shiga Kogen Maruike Hotel, which opened in 1930 in Maruike, Yamanouchi Town. In addition to its “sauce katsudon (pork cutlet rice bowl),” which boasts a 40-year history, they also offer carefully prepared Nel drip coffee in the coffee corner along with handmade cheesecake and daily cake specials.

    This cafe offers ten or so varieties of cakes, including authentic teas from around the world and Mont Blanc cake made with walnuts from Obuse. There are always about 20 types of tea available, and their delicious flavor has even earned the shop the recognition of the Japan Tea Association. The exterior looks like a European-style house, and the interior contains antique Western furniture, allowing you to spend a pleasant, relaxing time. It’s about a seven-minute walk from Obuse Station on the Nagano Line.

They're best known for their sweets made with chestnuts, including their ""Kuri Parfait"" with homemade chestnut bean jam and their ""Kuri Moffuru Pie"" made with domestically grown chestnuts. Lots of people also visit on sunny days to take advantage of the outdoor terrace seating."

    今まで何度も通った道沿いにありますが、初めて行きました。 戸隠神社から約10キロ程度離れた場所にあり、木造の比較的小さめな造りの家が店で、ベーコンやソーセージが手作りで非常に味わい深く、またチーズケーキも濃厚でリピーターも多いお店のようです。
