    A long-established chestnut confectionery store located in Obuse Town, Kamitakai County, Nagano Prefecture. The classy cake shop sells all sorts of treats made with chestnuts such as Kuri Kanoko and Kuri Mushi packed with chestnut jam made only with whole chestnuts and sugar. The moist Kuri Kanoko cake is also popular. At the back of the shop is a restaurant where, as well as sweets such as raw chestnut cake, you can taste Japanese-style meals using local traditional vegetables and seasonal ingredients.

    A bread bakery located on the first floor of the Shibutoge Hotel a 50-minute drive from the Shinshu Interchange on the Joshin-Etsu Expressway. The bakery is 2,000 meters above sea level, making it the second highest in Japan. Known for its charming breads made by hand the old fashioned way, popular selections include the coleseed bread stuffed with sauteed coleseed greens; and the walnut bread, whose dough is mixed with huge chunks of walnut. The standard anpan bean paste bread, cream bread, and melon bread are also recommended. The bakery closes each day when stock runs out.

    A miso making factory located close to Yudanaka Onsen. The company invented Tokonese, a type of koji malted rice made using hot spring heat, and the company's handmade, additive-free natural miso made with this koji has long boasted excellent taste, umami body, and aroma. The factory's signature Shiga Kogen Miso comes in three different varieties depending on the ratio of koji and has even been introduced on television as Japan's most delicious miso. The company offers factory tours which include a tasting session of its products, as well as an activity which allows participants to try mixing steamed soybeans, koji, fermentative bacteria, and salt water like the factory does when it makes miso (note that both require an advance reservation).

So delicious they've been featured in the media, the shop will let you taste its jams served on top of a small portion of plain yogurt. The shop also carries a variety of gift boxes and can ship purchases within the region.

The shop aims to serve chestnut confections unlike anything found anywhere else, and popular products include the Kuri Tsukuri, a light azuki bean yokan jelly with a candied chestnut inside; and the Ume Tsukuri, a plum pulp yokan jelly made with Japanese plums marinated in honey. The shop's numerous visually delightful products influenced by the unique cultural features of Obuse make for perfect gifts and souvenirs. Here you can also by Mizore, large chunks of candied chestnut, a confection which won the chairman's prize at the Kashi Hakurankai confection exhibition. Situated away from the hustle and bustle of the town center and surrounded by a tranquil natural area, visitors are encouraged to stop by this establishment.

    レンタサイクル借りてこちらへ。近くまで来ているのに栗林に囲まれて15分ほど迷子。 ここは自家栽培の栗だけ使用と聞いてどうしても来たかった。自宅用に栗ペーストと茶巾絞りの空蝉。お土産に栗鹿の子とペースト。 空蝉は栗そのもの、お茶を飲むのももったいない、口の中の栗を楽しんでいたい。 栗鹿の子も自宅用に買えば良かった。

The shop's Hirano Roll cakes consist of a fine, moist sponge cake rolled around whipped cream made with condensed milk; customers love its delicate, melt-in-your-mouth flavor. The marble cheesecake, chocolat, and popular shortcake made according to a recipe unchanged since the shop opened its doors are also recommended.

    The patiserrie sells cakes and choux, as well as have a sit down area for eating coffee and cakes on premises. Cash Only. Pre-order for larger cakes recommened.

    This is an old Japanese confectionery shop in Obuse Town, Kamitakai County, Nagano Prefecture, and the Kurirakugan sweet introduced by the first owner in 1808 is said to be the start of Obuse chestnut sweets. Maintaining traditional flavors and techniques, they sell a variety of sweets of chestnuts from Japan and abroad. In the wide space of the pure Japanese interior are lined a variety of sweets including the popular Jun Kuri Yokan made with just chestnuts, sugar and vegetable gelatin, and the Jun Kuri Kanoko which is pure chestnut bean paste matched with pieces of chestnut. Both inside and out there are rest spaces in which one can take a break from shopping.

    We went there after our visit to the Hokusai Museum to get some snacks. They have a big variety of cakes in glass display shelves. They were tasty. The chestnut ice cream was not available. There...

Everything is made fresh, so the sekihan rice and okowa are great but require a reservation. The owner trained in a Western confection shop, so you may see fruit cakes out sometimes too.

    渋温泉に滞在中に訪れました。 メインストリートにあります。 蒸したての温泉まんじゅうがあるとかかれたお知らせを見て入りました。 温泉まんじゅうは通常のものと黒糖のものがありました。 他にもおいしそうな和菓子がいっぱいありました。 お店の中にテーブルが1卓あり座って食べることもできました。 蒸したての温泉まんじゅうをお茶を頂いて食べました。 甘すぎずしっとりしていてとてもおいしかったです。

    Shioya Jozo (brewery) has 30 stone troughs lined up that have been there since the Edo period and are used to create miso and soy sauce. 10 buildings on the site, including the store, the main building, the annex, and the soy sauce storehouse have been designated Tangible Cultural Properties. Visitors can tour the miso storehouse as well. The preparation methods have been guarded by successive generations, and combined with the yeast cultivated in the storehouse, the taste produced is exquisite. It’s about a 15-minute walk from Suzaka Station on the Nagano Line.

    こちらの建築物の内 10件が国登録有形文化財として指定されている為 訪問し、《こうじみそ 500 g 578円税込 添付 写真参照》を購入しました。 帰宅後 我が家の味噌汁は この《こうじみそ》を使い 美味しい味噌汁を楽しんでいます。なお 《屋号:塩屋》は こちらが塩問屋として創業しており 塩を商うことが由来のようです。

    ここは定番のおやきのほかに八町きゅうりのおやきがありました。八町きゅうりは発酵してものを入れているらしく思いのほかおいしかったです。
