    This is a restaurant in the center of the path leading to the Zenkoji Temple. The restaurant’s sauce katsudon, topped with fried pork cutlets smothered in a homemade sauce and fried eggs, are made according to the same recipe as when Marusei opened after the end of the Second World War, providing Zenkoji Temple worshippers with a familiar flavor. Marusei also offers a set including its famous katsudon with stone ground soba (buckwheat) noodles.

    This restaurant is housed inside a tatami wholesaler's built in the Edo period. Here diners can enjoy carefully prepared local cuisine which incorporates Shinshu (Nagano) and seasonal ingredients. Popular menu items include the steamed Shinshu beef and country-style usuyaki crepes made with 100% buckwheat flour and dressed with sweet miso and green onions. Located right next to the entrance to the road leading to the Zenkoji Temple.

    My boyfriend and I had an amazing experience. The food was so tasty and beautiful and the staff was absolutely amazing as well! I would definitely come here again!

    This soba (buckwheat noodle) restaurant located in the center of the road leading to the Zenkoji Temple was founded in 1827. Fujikian uses renown Shinshu Kurohime kirishita buckwheat and grinds its flour in house with a stone mill. The shop’s juwari soba, made with 100% buckwheat flour and no fillers, is only available in limited quantities and sells out quickly. The restaurant also offers easy-to-eat nihachi soba (made with 80% buckwheat to 20% wheat flour).

    Located at the border of Niigata Prefecture and Nagano Prefecture, it is the 32nd national park in Japan. There are many sights in the area with numerous famous mountains including Mt. Amakazari, Mt. Myoko, and Mt. Hiuchi, which are ranked in Japan’s top 100 famous mountains. There are also highlights such as Otari hot spring, a health resort with a history of more than 450 years, and Togakushi Shrine, famous for the Heavenly Iwato legend. Rare birds such as the blue-and-white flycatcher, one of Japan’s top three singing birds, and the Japanese rock ptarmigan which is designated by the national government as a Special Natural Monument inhabit the area. Myoko-Togakushi renzan National Park area is also one of Japan’s heavy snowfall areas, and there are also many ski resorts.

    This museum, attached to the Shinshu-Shinmachi Museum of Art, was opened in December 1993 with the donation of the late Isamu Nishizawa's fossil collection of approximately 6,000 fossils from Shinshu-Shinmachi, Nagano. The museum exhibits a wide variety of fossils from 53 countries and materials related to the geological strata in the Shinshu-Shinmachi area, including the collections mentioned above.

    A day-use hot spring bathhouse loved by the locals with a classy hot spring hotel where Emperor Hirohito once stayed.     One of the Iizuna Highland's main sightseeing spots, not far from Zenkoji Temple. A legend says the pond came about when water accumulated in the footprint of a mythical giant known as Daidarabocchi. Located at the edge of the highland, there are many restaurants, convenience stores, and farm stands in the vicinity. Other facilities dotting the area include a campground, athletic field, and a boat launch. It gets busy with families on holidays and is great for picnics or a walk. There's a path around it you can complete in 20 minutes.

    This park is famous for its 300 Yoshino cherry trees which bloom from mid- to late April. The sight of the flowering trees, planted around the banks of two ponds in the park, is gorgeous. The park also holds a lengthy cherry blossom festival in April. In addition, Haruta Shrine, a Shinto shrine dedicated to Haruta Omikami, Kotoshironushi-no-Kami, and Ukanomitama-no-Mikoto, is also located inside the park.

    Appropriate to an area with a mountain where tengu goblins live according to legend, a 9.5 meter tall statue of a tengu, the largest in Japan, stands inside this park. The park is also a renowned destination for cherry blossom viewing. In mid-April, the area around the Chikuma Tengu statue becomes covered with pink blossoms, and visitors can enjoy taking in the beautiful flowers as well as the scenery of the Togura Kamiyamada Onsen hot spring district. In mid-March, visitors can also see Eranthis pinnatifida, a flowering plant designated a vulnerable species.

The shop continues to make its traditional confections by hand according to old-fashioned methods using select ingredients and apricots from Nagano. The shop's popular apricot monaka wafer cakes have been certified as a Shinshu Chikuma brand product and can be eaten as-is or frozen to enjoy like an ice cream sandwich.

    A recently remodeled pizzeria which was opened in 1995 as the first establishment in Japan to make use of an Amalfi integrated pizza oven. Surrounded by plants and painted salmon orange on the outside, inside the stylish, wood-accented restaurant is decorated with antiques imported from Italy. The Milano-style pizza, made with an abundance of fresh mozzarella cheese, is particularly recommended.

    屋代駅前にある老舗のピザ屋さん。かわいらしい建物のお店でした。イタリアンが食べたい時に立ち寄ります。マルゲリータが特にオススメなのですが。カリッとした生地にトマトソースの風味がよく効いて個人的には好みの味でした。他にも、最近ではパスタも人気のようです。

    One of the parks located in the Togura Kamiyamada Onsen area. Situated along the Shinano River, the park sprawls near the Manyo Bridge. 27 monuments inscribed with poems about Nagano from the ancient Manyoshu poetry anthology to today stand in the park and visitors can enjoy visiting each. Some of the monuments are inscribed with characters written in the hands of the authors, such as Kobayashi Issa and Kyoshi Takahama.

    An apricot park where rare ancient varieties of apricots have been transported an old Japanese home has been restored to recreate once lost local scenery. The park's grounds encompass a waterway where fireflies can be seen and an old well and Japanese home. Inside the home building, there is a rest area with an old-fashioned irori sunken hearth; paintings and dyed and woven items by local artists are also on display here. The park's gifts and souvenirs, made with local apricots, are also popular.

    This manga museum preserves and displays some 4,000 works of art and other materials from Hidezo Kondo, a political satirist born in Chikuma City who helped popularize politics among the masses via manga. Here people can come in contact with how ancient people in Japan once lived; the park's Mori-Shogunzuka Museum contains a replica of the tumulus' stone pit room where visitors can see educational videos and artefacts discovered in the tomb; while the Nagano Prefectural Museum of History presents the history of Nagano Prefecture. The park also holds fun events, such as flying over 100 carp streamers on the grounds from mid-April to mid-May.

    This Buddhist temple, established in the late Muromachi period, was designated a National Important Cultural Property in 1907. The temple's three column bay, four beam bay, single thatched hip roof and, above all, its tsumairi architecture is unusual. The temple is also known for its beautiful bigleaf hydrangeas which flower from late June to late July, and its stunning fall foliage from early through mid-November.

Iizuna Plateau and Togakushi Plateau are located at the foot of the mountains, and in addition to mountain climbing, many people enjoy skiing in winter.

    This scenic overlook is located in Kinasa, a place where legend has it an oni ogre built a mountain in a single night in the distant Asuka period. The pass the observatory is situated on is 1,055 meters above sea level and is a part of Prefectural Route 36 connecting Togakushi and Kinasa in the northwestern part of Nagano City, Nagano Prefecture. The observatory has a bench and arbor. The Northern Japan Alps are visible in the distance, while a stream and the natural beauty of Kinasa sprawl directly below.
