  • Anzu no Sato

  • Rokaku Plum Park

    A two hectare plum park sprawling on the bank of the Sai River. In spring, some 800 ryukyo koume plum trees come into bloom, filling the area with the fragrance of their blossoms. In most years, the trees bloom from late March to mid-April, and the Rokkaku Plum Park Flower Festival is held from late March to early April. During the festival, local agricultural products and specialty products are sold and events are held such as small concerts and a pleasure boat tour. Festival visitors can also enjoy Shinshushin-machi's famous jingisukan lamb barbecue.

    This park is famous for its 300 Yoshino cherry trees which bloom from mid- to late April. The sight of the flowering trees, planted around the banks of two ponds in the park, is gorgeous. The park also holds a lengthy cherry blossom festival in April. In addition, Haruta Shrine, a Shinto shrine dedicated to Haruta Omikami, Kotoshironushi-no-Kami, and Ukanomitama-no-Mikoto, is also located inside the park.

    This Edo-higanzakura cherry blossom tree is the only one in Japan to be designated a National Natural Monument. The huge tree is around nine meters in circumference at the base and is estimated to be 1,200 years old. Each year in spring when it comes into bloom, its beauty delights the eyes of large numbers of visitors. The tree blossoms from late April to early May. Located on the grounds of Suzakura Shrine in Izumidaira, Nagano City, according to legend the tree grew from a cherry wood cane the god Susanoo-no-Mikoto planted on the bank of the pond when he rested here.
  • Obasute Rice Terraces

    Scenic terraced rice fields located close to Obasute Station on the JR Shinonoi Line. A sprawling array of 2,000 fields, the area has been selected as one of Japan's 100 most beautiful terraced rice fields. Popular for its picturesque Zenkoji Plain night view and sunrises, Obasute night view tours are also conducted in the area. Many tourists come here to take in the spectacular view.

    松代エリアで 唯一公開されている[国重要文化財]の建築物であることから訪問しました。中級武家住宅とありますが 2階建の2階部が風流な造りで驚かされますので 建築物鑑賞ファンの方で 松代エリアへの訪問機会あれば 見逃さないことお薦めします。又 10月13日訪問時 庭のカリンの実がたわわに実っていました。
