    This marsh is part of the Kirigamine Highland in Yatsugatake-Chushin Kogen Quasi-National Park. Formed over about a 12,000-year period, it is a treasure trove of precious flora and fauna, including 18 varieties of sphagnum moss. It was designated a National Natural Monument in 1939.

Situated 2,000 meters above sea level and known as a treasure trove of alpine plants, the area experiences extreme variations in temperature throughout the year, resulting in a diverse environment in which many plants and animals gather extending from the lower slopes of the highland up to mountains 3,000 meters tall.

    A wetlands area located in the Kamikochi area in Azumi, Matsumoto City. The wetlands are located a 15-minute walk from the Kappa Bridge, seen as a symbol of Kamikochi, in the direction of Myojin. There are wooden walkways and decks in the area, making it easy for visitors to walk amidst lush natural scenery interweaving Mt. Roppyaku, natural springs, Japanese pampas grass, and, in fall, lovely autumn foliage.
