  • Garyu Park

    This comprehensive park is located in Suzaka City, Nagano Prefecture. 150 Yoshino cherry trees are planted around Ryugaike Pond, and the park has been selected as one of Japan's top 100 cherry blossom spots. In addition, the adjoining Suzaka Zoo makes the park popular with mainly families. Many people come to view the flowers during the Cherry Blossom Festival held each April.
  • Katsuma Yakushido and Weeping Cherries

    This Yakushido temple is located on a small hill in an area called Katsuma sprawling on the south bank of Takato Lake. The temple enshrines a Buddhist statue with supposed miraculous powers said to have been carved by the great priest Gyoki., as well as statues of the twelve divine generals protecting it and thirteen Buddhist statues once the object of local folk belief. In addition, there are three large weeping cherries on the temple's grounds which notably begin flowering around the time the blossoms of the Kohigan-zakura cherries in Takato Castle Site Park begin to fall. The trees are said to have been planted during the Ansei era in the Edo period and are over 140 years old. Their stunning forms dominate the surrounding scenery and many flower viewing-lovers come here just to see them.
  • Ina Park

    "A large park built on a terrace beyond the Tenryu River travelling from JR Inakita Station. Facilities include tennis courts, baseball grounds, a pool, and playground equipment. The park is designed to be a space where everyone from children to senior citizens can enjoy sports and exercise. The park has also long been known as an excellent cherry blossom viewing destination, and during the blooming period in spring, many visitors come here to enjoy the sight of the park's nearly 300 Yoshino cherries and Kohigan-zakura cherry. Some of the park's many other highlights include the D51-209, a real locomotive, known to locals as ""Degoichi;"" and a stone monument dedicated to a song called ""Ina Bushi."""
  • Senninzuka Park

    A nature park located in Iijima Town, Kamiina County, Nagano Prefecture. Built around the 33,000 square meter Jogaike Pond, the park sprawls along the southern bank of the Yotagiri River, and visitors can enjoy fishing, camping, and mallet golf. The park is situated in a scenic area 830 meters above sea level. Jogaike Pond, selected for inclusion in a list of Japan's 100 best ponds, is encircled by some 700 cherry trees, including Yoshino cherries, Higan cherries, and Sato-zakura cherries. When the cherry blossoms are in bloom, visitors can take in the sight of the blossoms and the majestic Japan Alps reflecting off the surface of the pond in the daytime, and the magical scene created by the trees lit up at night. A variety of other seasonal flowers bloom on the park's grounds, and the park observatory has a spectacular view.
  • Ueda Domain Feudal Lord's Residence (Ueda High School)

    The site of a former feudal lord's residence located in Ueda City, Nagano Prefecture. Sanada Nobuyuki, eldest son of Sanada Masayuki, originally began living here after the Battle of Sekigahara; today, the Ueda Senior High School building stands on the grounds. When the school was built, the original front gate and earthen walls extending off of it as well as the moat were left intact; still extant today, they have collectively been designated an Important Cultural Property by Ueda City. Note that visitors may only view the exterior; the interior is not open to the general public. Cherry trees and azaleas bloom near the front gate from spring to early summer.

    A park located in Shimosuwa Town, Nagano Prefecture. Situated on high ground, visitors can enjoy a sweeping view of Lake Suwa directly below. The park's grounds are also dotted with monuments to literary figures such as Akahiki Shimagi, Masaoka Shiki, and Matsuo Basho. In addition, the park grounds are a renowned destination for cherry blossom viewing, and during the blooming season, some 560 Kohigan-zakura cherries and Yoshino cherries come into beautiful bloom. A tea house also opens up during the flowering season, and the trees are lit up by 900 paper lanterns at night. Night or day, during this time the park bustles with visitors come to take in the flowers.

    This park is famous for its 300 Yoshino cherry trees which bloom from mid- to late April. The sight of the flowering trees, planted around the banks of two ponds in the park, is gorgeous. The park also holds a lengthy cherry blossom festival in April. In addition, Haruta Shrine, a Shinto shrine dedicated to Haruta Omikami, Kotoshironushi-no-Kami, and Ukanomitama-no-Mikoto, is also located inside the park.
  • Togura-juku Kitty Park

    Appropriate to an area with a mountain where tengu goblins live according to legend, a 9.5 meter tall statue of a tengu, the largest in Japan, stands inside this park. The park is also a renowned destination for cherry blossom viewing. In mid-April, the area around the Chikuma Tengu statue becomes covered with pink blossoms, and visitors can enjoy taking in the beautiful flowers as well as the scenery of the Togura Kamiyamada Onsen hot spring district. In mid-March, visitors can also see Eranthis pinnatifida, a flowering plant designated a vulnerable species.
  • Daiunji Temple

    This Buddhist temple is famous for its spring cherry blossoms and fall foliage and has been selected for inclusion in a list of the Nagano Prefecture's top 100 scenic areas. The ancient Zen temple is backed by Mt Reijozan, known for its stone Buddhist statues, and the entire area has been designated the Nature Exploration Park. Walking paths enable visitors to take in the area's seasonal beauty. In summer, lotus flowers bloom on the temple's pond, and visitors can take in the elegant scenery.
  • Shizuka no Sakura Park

    This renowned destination for cherry blossom viewing is connected to the legend of the lady Shizuka Gozen. A cherry tree on the grounds believed to be around 800 years old is said to have grown from a cane Shizuka Gozen stuck in the ground here before she died, unable to reunite with her lover the samurai Minamoto no Yoshitsune. The park's cherry trees bloom from late May to early June; dog cherries, a variety with lovely five millimeter blossoms similar to plum blossoms, are the first to bloom. Visitors can take in the beautiful cherry trees and surrounding rural landscape while pondering Lady Shizuka's sad tale.
  • Omachi Park

    A park situated partway up Mt. Higashi overlooking Omachi City. A renowned destination for cherry blossom viewing, the park's trees come into bloom from mid- to late April. The Northern Japan Alps stand solemnly beyond the park, and when the cherries are blooming snow still caps their peaks, further enhancing the scenic beauty. In addition, the avenue of cherry trees in the Omachi Onsenkyo hot spring village is decorated with paper lanterns from April 14 to May 6, so be sure to stroll this picturesque area before or after going flower viewing in the park.
  • Jindai-zakura of Suzakura Shrine

    This Edo-higanzakura cherry blossom tree is the only one in Japan to be designated a National Natural Monument. The huge tree is around nine meters in circumference at the base and is estimated to be 1,200 years old. Each year in spring when it comes into bloom, its beauty delights the eyes of large numbers of visitors. The tree blossoms from late April to early May. Located on the grounds of Suzakura Shrine in Izumidaira, Nagano City, according to legend the tree grew from a cherry wood cane the god Susanoo-no-Mikoto planted on the bank of the pond when he rested here.

The park's wide variety of sports and activity facilities includes a gymnasium, 400 meter track course (Clay 1 Course), field (exclusively for long jumping), exercise field equal to two baseball fields in size, 50 meter pool, lazy river pool, and waterslides. In addition, usually from mid- to late April, some 550 North Japanese hill cherries and Yoshino cherries come into beautiful bloom on the grounds, making the park a renowned cherry blossom viewing destination as well.

    A park located in Nojiri, Okuwa Village, Kiso County, Nagano Prefecture. The park has an azalea garden where Rhododendron dilatatum flower in late April and Rhododendron kaempferi flower in early May. The adjoining campground is open for two periods during the year - from late April to late May, and from mid-July to late September; in addition to camping sites, the campground also offers cabins; bungalows; and elevated, domed treehouses called tsukushinbo houses.

    A park located in Yomikaki, Nagiso Town, Kiso County, Nagano Prefecture. The park is famous for its large community of Rhododendron dilatatum, a variety of azalea which has been designated a Natural Monument by the town. Some 400 plants spanning six varieties come into bloom in mid-April, and during this time the park holds the Nagiso Rhododendron Dilatatum Festival. Visitors to the park can also enjoy scenic views of Momosuke Bridge spanning the Kiso River, and of Mt. Kisokoma.
