    A restaurant located on the first floor of Hotel Japan Shiga a 40-minute drive from the Shinshu-Nakano Interchange on the Joshin-Etsu Expressway. Adorned with wood and stone engendering a relaxing atmosphere, here diners can enjoy authentic cuisine prepared by a Nepalese chef. Particularly popular is the restaurant's homemade curry crafted with choice spices and designed to bring out the innate flavors of the ingredients used. Order the lunchtime Nepalese curry buffet and you can enjoy all-you-can-eat authentic curries, fresh baked nan, rice, and salad.

    25 minutes from the Suwa Interchange on the Chuo Expressway. This Indian restaurant serves an abundant variety of healthy, largely vegetable-based dishes. The restaurant's homegrown vegetables; nan made with natural yeast and domestic flour; organic, pesticide-free brown rice; and other foods are prepared without the use of any chemical flavorings, additives, or preservatives whatsoever. The hot, full-bodied Nataraj curry, made with soy meat in a spicy curry crafted from slow-stewed onions and tomatoes, is particularly recommended. The restaurant is adjoined by an Indian terracotta art museum and store selling Indian knickknacks.

    But it happened to be the only restaurant opened as I was around. It was very good, all dishes were tasty and fine.

    Kitzbuehl is the only German restaurant in Karuizawa. The restaurant has an open, relaxed atmosphere and there is seating out on the open terrace. Pets are welcome when dining here. Popular on the menu is eisbein, a German dish of pickled ham hock, usually cured and slightly boiled. The sausages at this restaurant are made by master chefs. And they pride themselves on using home-grown vegetables freshly picked each morning. Eight kinds of German beer are stocked and others are brought in from time to time. Up to 20 different brands of wine are singled out at any one time to be enjoyed, including ice wines for dessert.

    The building is a 130 year old refurbished private house. Inside the restaurant is also a permanent exhibition gallery displaying Azumino landscape paintings and portraits. The gyoza dumplings are made with pork from pigs raised in the Azumino Akashina fields and the vegetables are organic or virtually pesticide-free. They only have one basic kind of dumpling which can be eaten grilled or boiled. Other than that they have pork soup and braised pork. All food ordered from the menu can be eaten out.

    This family-run restaurant specializes in and serves only gyoza made right there; both sui gyoza and yaki gyoza. Both are very good. Very serene, relaxing atmosphere.

    松本駅から歩いて行ける距離のところにある居酒屋です。お店に入るとお座敷に通されました。昭和の雰囲気が漂うお店です。ただメニューは中華が多く、さっそくギョーザ、春巻きに麻婆豆腐などを注文。どれも家庭的な味がしておいしかったです。ビールも美味しく感じられました。

    松本駅近くの繁華街にある焼肉屋さん。座敷に案内されてメニューを見てみると、扱っている肉はかなり上質なものでした。信州黒毛和牛という事もあり、特上カルビ、上ロースなどは１人前で２０００円近くします。ただ、とろけて絶品。頬が落ちるとはまさにこのこと。ちょっとした記念日に、自分へのご褒美に利用したい焼肉屋さんです。

    旧軽ロータリーをやや過ぎたところにあるのでそれほど混雑していないところが良いです。裏に駐車場があるのもうれしいです。お薦めはカルビラーメンで、やや太めのちぢれ麺にほどよい辛さのスープがよく合っています。ボリュームたっぷりのカルビが入っているのは、さすが焼肉屋さんと思いました。
