The habitat is located in the Isshiki District of Minobu Town a short distance from Shimobe Onsen, which is known for having been one of the private hot springs of the feudal lord Takeda Shingen. Countless genji-botaru fireflies dance in the air here from late May to late June. A visitor's center, the Isshiki Hotaru Information Center, is located in the district. It is one only habitat in Japan where genji-botaru (Luciola cruciata) fireflies reproduce naturally. The clear water that flows through the park's brooks is a sign of the efforts that volunteers from the local hot spring district have made in order to preserve the firefly's habitat. The best time to see the fireflies is in mid-June. Many flowers bloom profusely around the park's waterways and the chirping of wild birds can also be heard in the park. "This long-standing Japanese confectionary shop, located in the Minobusan Kuonji Temple neighborhood not far from the Shimobeonsen-Hayakawa Interchange on the Chubu-Odan Expressway, has been in business since the Edo period. The inventor of Minobu manju buns, a local Minobu specialty product, since it was established in 1626, the shop has continued to make Japanese confections as the official purveyor for the Minobusan Kuonji Temple using techniques passed from parent to child. In March 2018, the shop renewed the shape and flavor of its signature Minobu manju while still retaining the same great molasses taste based on the concept of a ""confection which enhances celebrations;"" the shop also changed the way the name of the confection was written, from the hiragana syllabary to kanji characters."

We recommend their ozara, a dish featuring springy handmade noodles served with a soy sauce-flavored dipping broth that contains vegetables, ground meat, and other ingredients. Their takesumi ozara, a variant of ozara with bamboo charcoal powder made by a local cooperative blended into the noodles, is also recommended. Another popular item is their croquettes, which feature a filling of okara (tofu dregs) made from rare and precious Akebono soybeans.
