    Built based on careful research of Heian period gardens, Murasaki Shikibu Park is a park in Echizen with connections to the Heian Period literary great, Murasaki Shikibu. There is much to see, including the statue of Murasaki Shikibu, monument engraved with her songs, Tsuridono building, and Izumidono building, etc. Adjacent to the park is “Fujinami-tei,” where you can see more materials related to Murasaki Shikibu.

    Lugar muito bonito para passear e conhecer um pouco da história de Echizen. Falta um pouco de conservação no local.

    This museum, which was reopened after renovations in 2016, is a place where you can encounter a new kind of “crab culture.” In this hands-on facility, visitors can have fun and learn about Echizen crabs and the mysteries of the Sea of Japan. The facility is divided into seven zones including the Crab Lab where you can study the different kinds of crabs and the structure of their bodies and the Under-sea Tunnel where you can see the different fish of the seasons off the Echizen coast.

    Opened in 1985, the Sabae City Nishiyama Zoo has made great strides in raising and breeding rare wild animals, particularly the red panda. This zoo is one of the few in the country to successfully breed red pandas. Red pandas don’t like the heat so you can’t see them much in summer, but there are live cameras placed inside and outside the red panda house, so you can see them in all their cuteness.

    豪雪の中、鯖江の駅から歩いて行きました！ 人がマダラの中、辿り着いた時は感動でした。 そして、目的のレッサーパンダちゃんが可愛い❤️ リスザルちゃんもかわいい。 ここが入場料無料とは驚きです！ 来れてよかったです。

    With a forest jungle gym, and mini-rafting near the source of the Asuwa River, Tree Picnic Adventure Ikeda is fun for kids and adults, even including barbeque equipment and a cottage. In the “Café Picnic” located in the “Center House,” you’ll find local dishes prepared using ingredients from Ikeda Town. Naturally, you can take-out food from there and eat anywhere you like on the park grounds.

    90%が森林と言う池田町で自然を満喫出来る施設。樹上テント等こちらならではの体験や各種自然の中でも遊べるプログラムが盛りだくさんです。個人的には春か夏に訪れてみたいと思いました。

    This glasses museum is located in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture, which produces more than 90% of the glasses made in Japan. In addition to in-depth exhibits on the history of eyeglasses, the museum also features a glasses shop where visitors can try out the latest models of Made in JAPAN glasses, a cafe offering sweets from Sabae City, a souvenir corner, and more. Visitors can also try their hand at making a one-of-a-kind pair of glasses. The museum is about a 15-minute walk from JR Sabae City.

    メガネミュージアムの2fにあるカフェです。軽食がと飲み物が中心のお店でした。 ケーキセットを頼みました。チーズケーキとアイスコーヒーで値段は７００円で普通のおいしさでした。店内はメガネ会館の店舗やオブジェ、ガラス張りになって風景も見渡せ良い雰囲気でした。

    A botanical garden located along National Route 417 in Asahi, Echizen Town, Nyu County. In a site covering 25 ha you can see over 3,000 types of naturally growing plants. In the main building they have exhibits displaying the evolutionary history of plants as well as a mini greenhouse with a collection of succulent plants. They also have hands-on classes such as creating handicrafts using plants.

    The museum was newly established in 2017 and is located on the grounds of the Echizen Pottery Village, introducing Echizen pottery from the Heian period to the modern age. The site also houses the former Mizuno Family Residence, a reconstructed old private house in Fukui, and two authentic tea rooms, Tenshindo and Tenshin'an.

    This park, which boasts around 120 types of flowering lotus including the Oga lotus which has been revived after 2,000 years, holds a Lotus Flower Festival from the end of June to the middle of August. The lotus flowers usually bloom during this period and many people come to enjoy the flowers. The park’s pavilion is a refined Nanbokucho period samurai residence-style made from Japanese cypress produced in Minami Echizen-cho.

Along with the Mori-no-Ie (Forest House), which is equipped with lodging facilities, a dining hall, and bathrooms, there are also bungalows, a barbecue house, a lawn area, and the multipurpose Hakkakudo Hall with included sunken hearths. They offer a variety of experiences including handicrafts such as woodworking and flower pressing, pizza making in stone ovens, stargazing, and walk rallies (reservation required).

    A botanical garden located along Prefectural Route 201 in Yokawa-cho, Echizen City. Here they have grown the chrysanthemums that are used to make the large human figures in the city's yearly Takefu Kikuningyo festival. Along with viewing the various methods of raising chrysanthemums including the chrysanthemum dome and the five-story pagoda they have a flower clock that changes with the seasons and an exhibition room. There's also the nearby Manyo-no-Sato Ajimano Garden where you can view plants related to the Manyoshu poetry collection.

Northeast of Kyoto, the ancient Tojinbo Cliffs separate Fukui prefecture from the Sea of Japan in a stretch of land well worth exploring. Water sports and seaside delicacies are available in abundance as the spectacular rugged coastline flattens down into beaches to the west of the prefecture, while inland, Fukui is home to Zen Buddhist temples and historic ruins.
