"A long-standing Japanese confectionary shop established in the 1820s located in the Yamashiro Onsen hot spring village. The restaurant's signature item is the ""Roppo-yaki,"" a baked sweet made by hand one at a time. This simple confection has been made for six generations since the establishment first opened. Small square cakes, Roppo-yaki are made with just select, homemade an bean paste, wheat flour, eggs, and honey. Baked a toasty, golden brown, the cakes have a delicately sweet flavor that fills the mouth. Visitors can watch Roppo-yaki being baked from a glass window at the front of the shop. Many customers, entranced by the owner's skillful technique, find themselves being drawn into the shop. The shop does not offer its products wholesale; this shop is the only place you can buy its goods."
