    In addition to the peripheral garden Kenrokuen, Kanazawa Castle Park is a treasure for the people of Ishikawa Prefecture. It is a center of history, and the castle—formerly the home of Kaga’s million-koku strong Maeda clan—is open to the public. There are innumerable sties to see, including Important National Cultural Properties like the Ishikawa Gate, Sanjikken Nagaya, and Tsurumaru Warehouse, as well as the grandeur of recent reconstructions of the Hishiyagura (tower), Gojikken Nagaya (gate), and Hashizume-mon Tsuzuki Yagura (tower). You can get a strong sense of Kaga’s history and culture by visiting there. Approximately 20 minutes by car via Kanazawa-Morimoto Interchange on the Hokuriku Expressway.

    A park in Utatsu-machi, Kanazawa City. Located at the foot of Mt. Utatsu from the park you get great views of the night cityscape of Kanazawa City and the Sea of Japan. The park is also home to a botanical garden with flowers that bloom throughout the seasons including nearly 200,000 irises covering almost 100 different types as well as azaleas and hydrangeas.

This park, constructed on the site of a former golf course, is equipped with barbecue sites, a multi-purpose ground, play structures and a single level wood structured community area with a cafe.     Kazue Town Ryokusuien Park is located in the Chayagai area in the Kazue Town district of Kanazawa City. A section of the Sogamae (a defensive moat and earthen wall) that provided two layers of protection for Kanazawa’s castle town has been reconstructed in the Park, enabling visitors to get a real feel for the history of the castle town. In spring, visitors can also enjoy the sight of beautiful shidare zakura (weeping cherry) trees.
