Ishikawa Hakui-gun Hodatsushimizucho Yanase Ne 1-1
This parking area is on the highway linking Kanazawa and the Noto Peninsula, the Noto-SatoyamaKaido. The parking lot has 25 spots, including some for large vehicles and physically challenged drivers, and has toilets, EV charging stands, a snack shop, and other facilities. One of the real charms of Shio Parking Area is that you can walk right down to the seaside. Once you come down the stairs, you'll find yourself right in front of Japan's only drivable beach, the Chirihama Nagisa Driveway. The parking area is also accessible from the Chirihama Nagisa Drive Yanase entrance, and regular roads.
  • Shio Parking Area (Toward Tokyo)
    Transportation
Ishikawa Hakui-gun Hodatsushimizucho Yanase Ne 1-1
This parking area is on the Noto-SatoyamaKaido, a scenic highway chosen as one of 100 Best Roads in Japan. Located between Chirihama Interchange and Imahama Interchange, it's equipped with Ostomate-friendly toilets, a snack shop, a local specialty shop, and more. Both sides offer walking access to the Chirihama Nagisa Drive Way, so it's perfect for a relaxing stop when you're on your way through. The sand on the Chirihama Nagisa Drive Way is incredibly fine and highly compacted, and it's a popular spot to drive all year round. As the only road in Japan running right at the water's edge, it offers a truly captivating sight as the scenery is covered in pre-dawn mist just before sunrise.

Ishikawa Main Areas

around-area-map

Long, thin Ishikawa prefecture runs along the Sea of Japan up into Noto Peninsula. Highlights of the seaside towns lining the west coast include Kanazawa, often described as a "Little Kyoto" thanks to its old wooden tea houses and geisha culture as well as its picturesque Japanese garden, Kenroku-en.
