A history museum dedicated to the Maeda Tosanokami family, a clan started by the samurai Maeda Toshimasa, son of Maeda Toshiie, the first lord of Kaga Domain. The family, of honorable origin and closely affiliated with the domain-ruling Maeda clan, is counted as one of the eight primary families which underpinned and supported the domain. Over the generations, members of the Maeda Tosanokami clan were awarded many important positions, and the family accumulated some 9,000 articles of tremendous historical value, a portion of which are on display in this museum. The museum's impressive exhibits include suits of armor and swords as well as texts detailing the history of famous military commanders from Japan's Warring States period.

Even though the museum is pretty much all in Japanese, the artifacts are still interesting and they tried hard to provide translations to as much of the exhibit as they could. The staff were kind...

In addition to exhibits arranged by classification including varieties found in Hakusan, the museum also has an insect section in which you can observe 20 varieties of real, live insects. Other fun things visitors can do including handling live insects and attempting an insect quiz. The museum also holds a variety of events. Every month on the 19th, junior high school aged students and younger can enter the museum for free (must be accompanied by an adult family member).

A big museum about insects, with many kinds of beetles, and a large butterfly house to walk through. Much more to see than I expected! For 410 yen for adults, less for children, it is great value. It...

"Once a shelter used to store portable shrines for events, the structure was rebuilt as this Shinto shrine in 2015 due to the deterioration of the old building. An ""ubuya"" is a room in which women give birth. The shrine is derived from an event held in August in which a god and goddess are wed, build an ""ubuya,"" and give birth to a child god. There is a large log pillar in the center of the shrine and inscribed at its base are the 12 signs of the Chinese zodiac. It is said that your wish will be granted if you stand on your own sign, circle the pillar clockwise, and pray at the altar."

Stocking 20 or more varieties of popular traditional crafts from Kanazawa, a former castle town and cultural leader of the Kaga area, here you’ll find handcrafted postcards created with Kaga yuzen techniques, saikumono handiwork, and more. The shop also carries rarer traditional crafts like Kaga zogan inlay work, Kaga mizuhiki zaiku cordwork, and Kaga kebari lures. At this popular destination, you’ll be able to buy unique Kaga souvenirs which combine the skills of artisans with the chic tastes of a Japanese castle town.

Fascinating crafts and artwork. Handcrafted, unique gifts. Simply fun to explore the shop. Who might have thought that fishing lures were art? Prices are fair for the caliber of the work.

This long-standing gold leaf specialty shop was established in 1898. Facing Saigawa-odori Avenue and located close to the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa and the Kenrokuen garden, the shop sells gold leaf materials and gold leaf crafts and also holds a variety of workshops. The shop’s most popular workshop is its gold leafing activity, which lets you handle real gold leaf just one 10,000th of a millimeter thick. Under the tentative guidance of an instructor, you can make your own gold leaf hand mirror, small bon tray, postcard, or badge, the perfect opportunity to make a memory of your trip to Kanazawa that will last a lifetime. The gold leaf ice cream activity, in which you apply gold leaf to a soft serve ice cream cone, is also popular.

The largest of the garden’s ponds, its surface area is 5,800 square meters and it is 1. 5 meters deep at its deepest point. The expansive, secluded pond serves as a symbol of the garden, and the colors of its waters vary depending on the position from which one is looking. Many of the garden’s most famous sights are found here, including the Kotoji Stone Lantern, Nijibashi Bridge, Karasaki Pine, and the Sazaeyama hill. The primary walking path around the pond is without hills and incorporates universal design principles, ensuring that even wheelchair users can leisurely traverse the path. Visitors can enjoy the seasonal views along the path.

A long, narrow peninsula jutting north from the near center of the Hokuriku region. The coastline, surrounding the peninsula on three sides, is diverse, from the jagged rock formations of Noto Kongo formed by crashing waves; to the Chirihama Nagisa Driveway, a beach area on which you can drive a car. Another one of the peninsula's appeals is the local liquors and cuisine made with ingredients from the area's rich farms and abundant sea. The Wajima Morning Market is particularly famous, but some of the area's many other unique highlights include the Shiroyone Senmaida Rice Terraces, selected as one of the 100 most beautiful terraced rice fields in Japan; and the majestic Kiriko Festival, registered as in the Japan Heritage program. If traveling by plane, the peninsula is around one hour from Haneda Airport.

The museum displays life-sized replicas of dinosaur skeletons and models and has a tunnel, visitors can walk through and experience the time of the dinosaurs. There's also a thrilling 40 meters long dinosaur slide. The museum's fossil dig experience for elementary school children is very popular and real dinosaur teeth have actually been discovered here. Children can also see what it's like to clean fossils and make replicas.
