    A pottery workshop and shop located in the Yamashiro Onsen hot spring resort area in Kaga, Ishikawa which has made and sold Kutani ware, a type of traditional Japanese porcelain, since 1906. Suda Seika is famous as the pottery workshop where renowned artist Rosanjin first came in contact with and learned the basics of ceramics in 1915. The current head of the workshop is the fourth to take on the title and continues to follow the traditional production methods of Kutani ware using a climbing kiln and manual techniques passed down through the ages. The appeals of Suda Seika’s overglazed and blue and white Kutani ware includes their rich colors and carefree brushwork. Visitors can select fine pieces to take home with them from among the numerous selections display in Suda Seika’s tatami mat Japanese-style showroom.

    This is a long-established gold leaf specialty store founded in 1898, located right next to the “21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa” in Hirosaka, Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture. Inside the store, in addition to gold leaf related art materials and handicrafts, food, accessories and sundries are sold. The original “Leaf Glass” made with gold leaf or silver leaf sandwiched between two glass plates made into coasters and tableware is popular. Also take out “gold leaf soft serve cream” is popular.

    A specialty shop selling Kaga mizuhiki cord work, a rare local traditional craft. Originally used as an engagement gift in the Taisho period, Sokichi Tsuda turned it into a three dimensional art form. The shop carries a variety of mizuhiki goods, from dazzling pieces meant for engagement gifts to traditional cord work-decorated envelopes used to give money on special occasions. The shop also sells cords made from Japanese washi paper for use in creating your own cord work projects. Other items on offer include mizuhiki accessories, ring pillows, and interior decorations. With a reservation for a party of four or more people, you can also take a workshop on making your own mizuhiki craft.
