A longstanding and famous Kanazawa oden restaurant established in 1927 which is located in Kata-machi, Kanazawa, Ishikawa. The restaurant’s famed traditional oden consists of various foods steeped in a kombu-based broth and heated at just the right temperature to draw out maximum flavor. For generations, the restaurant’s proprietresses watched over Akadama’s secret oden recipe, lovingly preparing it fresh each day. The restaurant’s domestic beef tendon nikomi stew, boiled tofu, and dashi chazuke are also popular. The first floor of the restaurant has an old fashioned atmosphere—customers sit at the counter and enjoy their meal while conversing with the proprietress. The second floor has Japanese modern-style tatami seating and pleasant window-side seating.

Lots of people. Be prepared to q and wait patient. However, once you start eating the oden, you will believe your wait was worth it. The young lady who took our order was very friendly. Knowing that...

A Kanazawa oden restaurant embraced by a wide array of fans, from tourists to people on business trips to local regulars. Kuroyuri is located inside the Kanazawa Hyakubangai Anto shopping mall, which is connected directly to JR Kanazawa Station. The secret to the restaurant’s popularity is its secret recipe oden, which has been continuously replenished and made the same way for over a half-century. Some of the oden options include kurumabu baked wheat gluten rings which gush out broth with every bite, daikon radish slices, boiled eggs, and ganmo deep-fried tofu and vegetables. The restaurant also offers a full menu of local Kaga sakes and a la carte dishes made with Kaga vegetables and seafood stocked from the Omi-cho Market.

It was our first experience eating Oden, the staff were very friendly and helpful. They helped us with our selections. As noted in the other reviews, there was a line up but it moved quickly. The...

A long-standing oden restaurant established in 1936 located in a corner of the Kakinokibatake Shopping District a 10 minute bus ride from JR Kanazawa Station. The restaurant serves Kanto-style oden, a rarity in Kanazawa, which is slow-stewed in a dark soy sauce and bonito stock broth and eaten with ginger mixed with miso. Diners sitting at the counter can view the oden pot and order their favorites. Particularly popular selections include the gyusuji beef tendon, a Kansai standard; and the large whelk skewers. The restaurant is also famous for its salty-sweet misokatsu breaded culets covered with the same ginger and miso mix used with the oden.

Ishikawa Areas

around-area-map

Long, thin Ishikawa prefecture runs along the Sea of Japan up into Noto Peninsula. Highlights of the seaside towns lining the west coast include Kanazawa, often described as a "Little Kyoto" thanks to its old wooden tea houses and geisha culture as well as its picturesque Japanese garden, Kenroku-en.
