    A popular Japanese and Western confectionary shop located in Hirosaka, Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture. Established in 1918 as “Ofukuken,” the shop underwent renovations and reopened under its current name in 2013. The shop sells Japanese sweets made by the third generation proprietor and Western confections made by the fourth generation proprietor, who trained at a hotel in Tokyo. The shop’s “an” sweet bean paste donuts have been popular since before it reopened. The shop’s seasonal Japanese confections and cakes made with seasonal fruits are beautiful and delicious. Ofuku has an eat-in space in addition to selling items for bringing home.

    Just outside the museum don’t miss this small patisserie where the owner develops his own research and achieved great results in mixing western patisserie with Japanese taste.

    Le pont de chocolat Saint Nicolas is a shop specializing in chocolate and cake, located in Korinbo, in the city of Kanazawa in Ishikawa Prefecture. The charming building recognizable by its white walls and cobalt blue door, so that it looks as if it came from a street corner in Europe. Trained in Belgium, the home of fine chocolate, the patissier makes each piece of chocolate individually, resulting in a confection as beautiful as a fine jewel. This chocolate melts in one’s mouth and lets customers experience the mellow fragrance of fine chocolate. The café space inside the shop serves seasonal cakes and gelato.

    French inspired shop and cafe with chocolate, pastries, ice creams etc. The flan and the waffles were fresh and delicious. The cappuccino was good. The wifi did not work. Staff spoke little English...

The Kinugoshi Choux Crème Goma is particularly popular, and consists of a fluffy choux crème crust stuffed with black sesame cream and a kokuto brown sugar-flavored warabimochi bracken starch dumpling. The dainty crust goes perfectly with the light, refreshing cream filling. The black sesame variety is only available from July to mid-September, but the Kinugoshi Choux Crème Matcha, filled with organic matcha custard cream, is sold year round.
