Beach Spots in Ishikawa Area

  • Uchinada Beach
    Leisure / Hobbies
    Ishikawa Kahoku-gun Uchinadamachi
One of the beaches of the Uchinada Coast extending nine kilometers north to south along the Sea of Japan. The biggest beach on the coast, it is also the closest to Kanazawa City. The beach is wide and sandy, its waters shallow. During swimming season, the beach is visited not only by town residents but also people from across the prefecture and beyond. In most years, jellyfish appear from around the time of the Bon Festival, and thus it is recommended to come before this time. You can see people enjoying marine sports such as windsurfing and bodysurfing as early as before the start of the rainy season.
  • Notojima Marine Park Beach

A calm beach located on the inner side of Nanao Bay, making it the perfect destination for families with children. Visitors can enjoy the sandy beach and go shellfish gathering in its rocky areas; the Hyokkori Onsen Shima-no-Yu bathhouse also adjoins the beach, meaning you can enjoy a hot spring bath after a full day of swimming and playing in the sun.
  • Katano Beach
    Leisure / Hobbies
    Ishikawa Pref. Kagashi Katanomachi
A swimming beach located a 10 minute drive from the Kaga Interchange on the Hokuriku Expressway. The beach is renowned for its beautiful sands and highly transparent waters. Swimming can be enjoyed here for approximately one month from mid-July to mid-August. A lovely pine forest grows on the right hand side of the beach. On clear days, beachgoers can see Tojinbo, one of Fukui Prefecture's most scenic areas, across the beach's waters. The beach's privately operated clubhouses offer a variety of services including showers and equipment rentals. They also conduct yoga classes and music events. The beach's parking area has 30 free parking spaces and, on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and on the Bon Festival, another 200 paid parking spaces are made available.
  • Sodegahama Beach
    Leisure / Hobbies
    Ishikawa Wajima-shi Fugeshimachi Sodegahama
A white sand beach connecting to scenic Kamogaura on the north side of downtown Wajima City. Notable for its blue skies and clear waters, the beach was also included in a list of Selection of Best 100 Beach because of its beauty. The beach's waters are shallow, ensuring that even small children can safely play in the ocean here. There's also an adjoining campground, making this a great destination for outdoor activities such as sea fishing and barbecuing. A nearby walking path leads to Kamogaura, as well, and one of the area's appeals is the fact that there's much more to enjoy here than just a day at the beach, including the stately Tatsugasaki Lighthouse and Horaizan Park. The beach is also easily accessible by car thanks to nearby parking.

Ishikawa Areas

around-area-map

Long, thin Ishikawa prefecture runs along the Sea of Japan up into Noto Peninsula. Highlights of the seaside towns lining the west coast include Kanazawa, often described as a "Little Kyoto" thanks to its old wooden tea houses and geisha culture as well as its picturesque Japanese garden, Kenroku-en.
