- Toyama Nakaniikawa-gun Tateyamamachi Ashikuraji Bunazaka Tono 11 Kokuyurin
- "The name Akushiro means ""evil castle,"" and comes from the overwhelming impact of the towering cliff, which seems to turn all comers away. It appears to have been formed by over hundred thousand years glacial and river erosion of a volcanic plateau created by ejecta from the Mt. Tateyama Volcano, and this cliff is formed entirely of volcanic rock called ignimbrite. The scenery here is particularly stunning during the fall foliage season. It was designated a Toyama Prefecture Historic Landmark/Place of Scenic Beauty/Natural Monument in 1965."

- Toyama Nakaniikawa-gun Tateyamamachi Ashikuraji
- The highest spring in Japan at 2,320 meters above sea level, with numerous sulfur vents and the smell of sulfur, the desolate landscape is hellishly bleak. (The area is currently off-limits due to the volcanic gases emanating from the spring).

Toyama Areas
Toyama is one of the three prefectures that house the Japanese Alps, with its southern and eastern borders comprising one long stretch of mountains, out of which the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route is forged. While traditional crafts fill the northern coastal cities of Toyama and Takaoka, thatched roof houses offer unrivalled views against a backdrop of fantastic scenery at Gokayama in the mountainous area in the south of the prefecture.
