    Mitsumata Roadside Station, located on National Route 17 in Yuzawa Town, Minamiuonuma County, Niigata Prefecture, is a charming building based on the style of an inn from the Edo period. There is a traffic information terminal, a rest area, a small farmer’s market, restaurant and shop. The restaurant offers set meals made with local Niigata ingredients, and noodles. Their Kenchin Motsu soup made with Waton Mocha-buta Pork is very popular. There is also a cafe which serves organic home-roasted coffee and pancakes, a shop which sells outdoor goods, a small shop which sells specialty products, and a free foot bath.

    The Cross 10 Tokamachi Roadside Station is located next to KINARE, the Echigo-Tsumari Satoyama Museum of Contemporary Art, on National Route 117 in Tokamachi City, Niigata Prefecture. With free parking and toilet facilities available 24 hours a day, it is a convenient place to stop off for a break on your way home late at night or when returning from a day’s sightseeing. The cafe inside has a number of popular dishes including the local traditional dishes of Noppe and Tsumari soba, as well as Tsumari pork made with the well-known branded pork. The roadside station also has plenty of places to buy some local specialties such as at Echigo-Tsumari Omiyage-kan where visitors can pick up some classic Niigata souvenirs like soba, Koshihikari rice, and sasa dango (dumplings wrapped in bamboo grass).

    Roadside Station Minamiuonuma Yukiakari is one of snow country Minamiuonuma, and it is composed of three facilities: Imaizumi Memorial Hall, Shiki Ajiwai-kan, and Ikoi-no-hiroba Plaza, with paintings and artworks by famous artists, foreign and abroad, but particularly with works by Shiko Munanaka. In the food court, you can partake of some dishes fresh cooked up with Uonuma’s Koshihikari rice piled high in a rice bowl. Three minutes by car via Shiozawaishida Interchange on the Kanetsu Expressway.

    A roadside station on National Route 252 in Uonuma City, Niigata Prefecture. It is a fairly small place but does have information on current traffic conditions, a souvenir shop, a shop that sells seasonal wild plants and vegetables, and an outlet which serves snacks, etc. The roadside station, built out of wood, has a bright, spacious atmosphere to it. At the food counter you can try some local food such as Atka mackerel sushi wrapped in bamboo leaves, char (type of trout) pressed sushi, and oboro tofu, and some sweet foods too, including homemade cakes and soft ice-cream.

    You’ll find this roadside station in Tokamachi City, Niigata Prefecture along National Route 252 nestled within an idyllic, seemingly satoyama (village-vicinity mountain) landscape. There’s a restaurant that serves popular homecooked local cuisine, and the building also has a direct sales store where you can purchase vegetables, local soba, Senda Rice, folk crafts, and more. You can visit the prefecture’s largest snow cavern as well, and there’s a walking trail with a suspension bridge too. Seasonal events are held throughout the year.

    4月に長岡から十日町へ抜ける途中、立ち寄りました。 吊り橋が見えましたが、雪が残っていて、渡ることができませんでした。 食堂でおにぎり定食とカレーライスを注文しました。 カレーはレトルトの様な味でした。 売店で豆大福が売ってましたが、ヤマザキパン製のようで、地元の特産では無い様です。

It has tourist information on Matsudai and Matsunoyama Onsen, road information, souvenir shops, and restaurants frequented by local people for both lunch and dinner, making this place a convenient place for shopping and meals while waiting for your train. There is also a small museum which displays artifacts relating to the Hokuhoku Line and a motor car used at the time of building the railway line.

    You’ll find this roadside station along the Koide-Okutadami Line of Prefectural Route 50 in Yoshida, Uonuma City, Niigata Prefecture. Besides providing tourism information, there’s also the adjoining “Miyuki no Sato” facility that contains a restaurant and specialty product shop. The restaurant serves local cuisine that makes generous use of local Uonuma ingredients; the set meals and rice balls all use Koshihikari rice. The Kenchin ramen with full of toppings is another popular option. The shop sells rice, local sake, seasonal produce, and processed marine products.
