    This convention center complex is about a 20-minute walk from JR Niigata Station and is comprised of two buildings: the Niigata Convention Center with exhibition halls and meeting rooms and Bandaijima Building with a hotel. From meetings to parties to lodging everything can be conveniently served by this one space. On the fifth floor of the Bandaijima Building is the Niigata Bandaijima Art Museum focusing on modern art and on the 31st floor is the Befco Bakauke Observation Room from which you can the Sea of Japan, Sado Island, and the Gozu Mountain Range.

    An aquarium standing along the coast in Nishifunami Town, Chuo Ward, Niigata City, Niigata Prefecture. The Niigata City Aquarium reopened after major renovations in 2013. The aquarium keeps and displays some 20 thousand sea creatures spanning around 500 species. Some of the aquarium’s many highlights include a giant aquarium exhibit modeled after the natural environment of the Sea of Japan, a “marine tunnel” which will make you feel like you’re walking around on the bottom of the ocean, and exhibits introducing the creatures that live in the Shinano River. The aquarium also has popular exhibits presenting waterfront animals such as beavers, river otters, seals, sea otters, and penguins. Exciting dolphin shows are held daily.

At the KiraKira Restaurant and Market you can buy and eat fresh foods as well as check out the changing seasonal plants and flowers in the large KiraKira Garden.

    This is a city park located in the Niigata City urban center near the Niigata City Office, Furumachi old town, and a variety of cultural facilities. Hakusan Park was built in 1873 as one of Japan’s first public parks based on the Dajokan Fukoku (Proclamation by the Grand Council of State). Located directly next to the Niigata Hakusan-jinja Shrine, it is used as a place of rest and relaxation by worshippers. Visitors can walk down the “Yasuragitei” embankment along the Shinanogawa River and pass “Ryutopia,” the Niigata City Performing Arts Center that features a rooftop park.

    A long-standing sushi restaurant situated along Honcho-dori Avenue in Chuo Ward, Niigata City, Niigata Prefecture. The shop was opened in the early Showa period by the first owner, who sought to bring Tokyo-style raw sushi to Niigata. Today, Sushi Yasu continues to preserve the traditional tastes and techniques of that time. The restaurant uses only fresh, natural ingredients in its sushi, including seasonal local fish. Popular menu items including the “kiwami,” a set of 10 pieces of sushi, dashi-maki-tamago rolled omelet, and bowl of soup, the lunch chirashi-zushi; and the homemade castella Tamago-yaki omelet—only a small number of which are offered each day. The restaurant only has eight counter seats and “koagari” raised tatami mat dining area with a single table. Sushi Yasu is popular not only with locals but also tourists from within the prefecture and beyond.

Its compatibility with the super thin noodles is exceptional. The interior of the shop is nostalgically reminiscent of the Showa period.

The café serves three different lunch sets that come with items such as a side, soup, and vegetable-rich pasta; lunch is available until 17:30. Sun Set offers a diverse menu that includes seasonal desserts and all-you-can-drink dinner courses.

    カップルには最適な休憩スペースですね。もちろん一人でもいいのですが、軽く買い物で疲れたらここでお茶をするという感じならいいですね。チェーン店に飽きた人は、一味違った店でのティータイムを楽しむことができる思いますよ。

Dedicated to the concepts of local consumption and farm-fresh, Kazahana serves creative Japanese cuisine made with Niigata ingredients such as pesticide-free Koshihikari rice and vegetables (picked just that morning) provided by contracted farmers, fresh eggs and seafood. The bar’s meat and fish dishes fried on lava stone in the open kitchen visible from the customer tables are particularly popular. Kazahana’s sashimi and abalone steak are also well-reviewed and go well with the bar’s selection of local sakes. Kazahana has a casual, Western-style atmosphere that makes it easy even for customers on their own to come in.

The showcase inside the shop is lined with strawberry shortcakes, Mont Blanc aux marrons and other popular western confectionery. The shop also uses seasonal ingredients, such as mangos, peaches and pears to make cakes for each season.

    ホテルオークラのすぐ近くにあります。駐車場が数台分ありますが、いつも混んでいて、停められないこともあります。ケーキ屋さんですが、イートインもあります。ケーキが美味しいのはもちろんですが、カキ氷が大きくて、食べ応えがあります。

The restaurant operates amidst a direct-sale floor selling marine products and local seafood caught by members of the Niigata Fishery Cooperative Society. Jizakana Kobo offers a full menu of rice bowls which give diners the chance to enjoy the fresh bounties of the ocean off Niigata at reasonable prices, including Alaskan pink crab, three seafood variety, and Japanese amberjack rice bowls, as well as the Jizakana tarekatsu pork cutlet rice bowls. The restaurant also offers seasonal menu items and items limited to just a few portions each day.

    ピアBandaiの端側のビルにある食堂です。1階と2階があるようで、丼が1階でした。時間がなく空いていたので入店しました。価格はリーズナブルでしたが、海鮮の量がちょっと少なかったです。お魚自体は大変美味しかったです。

    Prominent with its green awning is Cafe Konditorei Hiro Kranz, a confectionery shop in Chuo Ward, Niigata City, Niigata Prefecture. The shop mainly sells a selection of authentic Viennese cakes made by the shop owner who mastered his craft in Austria and Germany. The cake shop is particularly well known for its classic Viennese cake, sachertorte. Also popular are the maronen, a Viennese style Mont Blanc, and the Dopperi saka blätter (literally “Dopperi slope leaf pie”), chosen as a Niigata City specialty cake. There is also an area where you can sit down and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee with your cake.

    オーストリアで修行されたのでしょうか。現地の味に近くて、しかも美味しいケーキや焼き菓子のお店です。半分ぐらいはオーストリアやドイツでよく見たお菓子で、半分ぐらいはよくあるフランス菓子ですが、どちらも美味しいです。個人的にはケーキはオーストリアっぽいもの、焼き菓子はフランス菓子が特に美味しいです。

    A free observation room situated on the 31st floor of the Hotel Nikko Niigata inside the Toki Messe convention center, Chuo Ward, Niigata City, Niigata Prefecture. From here at about 125 meters above ground, views can be had as far as the Gozu Mountains and Sado Island floating in the Sea of Japan, as well as of the city of Niigata and Shinano River. After sun set the spectacular night view shimmers to life making it a popular place for dating couples. There is also a lounge where meals can be enjoyed while looking out over the glorious views, and an area selling souvenirs. Kuriyamabeika Co., Ltd, otherwise known as Befco, sponsors the observation room, known as ‘Bakauke’ (one of their products).

    Free admission and nice views of beautiful Niigata. You can see the it even in the rest room. At the coofee shop, try ice cream with rice cracker toppings.

The interior is a retro space, with antique-style table settings and furniture, redolent of the Showa period (1926–1989). The famous Chamonix Blend, carefully brewed with a syphon, features a unique richness and slightly bitter flavor. The shop is open Monday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m.

The restaurant serves mainly Japanese-style dishes, full of the deliciousness of Niigata. The ingredients for these dishes include local seafood bought directly from local fishermen, and Niigata vegetables from contractor farms, which the restaurant’s staff visit personally to buy their goods. The most popular items on the menu are the seasonal locally-caught sashimi, and Tochio City’s specialty, Jumbo fried tofu. The interior of the restaurant was renovated, leaving the old beams and pillars in place, giving it a relaxing, nostalgic atmosphere. The nearest station is Niigata Station.

The soup seeps into the thick, firm noodles, and with an abundance of toppings such as roast pork and vegetables, each bowl has plenty of volume. The shop is open from 9 a.m. and is convenient for both breakfast or an early lunch.
