    An ancient temple of the Soto sect of Zen Buddhism located at the foot of the holy mountain Mt. Hakusan. While its exact founding date is yet unknown it's believed to have been a center of the Hakusan faith since ancient times. The current temple hall was reconstructed after a fire in 1755. Jikoji Temple has the best maintained seven-structured temple compounds in the prefecture and is extremely rare as a Soto sect temple with a remaining cloister. Along with the main hall, the priest quarters, main temple gate, cloister, and scripture house are all registered as Tangible Cultural Properties of Japan. Cedars, some said to be over 400 years old, line the path from the Ogonno Sato Meeting hall at the base of the temple grounds to the temple and amidst the dignified atmosphere you can feel the long history of Jikoji Temple.

    According to records, this ancient Buddhist temple was founded in 1207 when the great monk Shinran was staying in the area to spread the belief in the nenbutsu prayer as the path to salvation and granted his greatest disciple with his honorary Buddhist name. The temple possesses a life-sized painting of Shinran as well as a calligraphic rendition of the nine-character name of a Buddhist deity stated to have been written in Shinran’s own hand when he stayed here. The temple’s Juzukakezakura cherry tree, whose hanging flowers resemble a Buddhist rosary; and the unusual Yatsufusa plum tree, whose individual flowers produce eight fruits, are counted among the Seven Wonders of Echigo. Considered both legends and miracles planted by Shinran during his visit to Echigo, even today their tale is passed down not only amongst the temple priests but across the prefecture.

    他の寺院と違い山門前に鉄柵が有ります。何か厳重そうなお寺ですね。説明書からですが室町時代初期の1368年に創建されたそうで、江戸時代になって現在の地に移りました。境内は普通のお寺といった雰囲気です。

    将軍杉の横の平等寺にある自由な発想を紙に書き記すことができる憩いの場が落書庵です。 境内の薬師堂内に残された武士達の落書きがありますが内部は非公開になっています。

    ＪＲ水原駅から徒歩５-６分程の東本願寺派のお寺です。境内もほどほど広く鐘楼や本堂なども小ぶりですが良い形をしています。個人的ですが、こんなお寺で小さい時に遊んだな、なんて思えるような懐かしいお寺に感じました。「久しぶり」と言ったら「時には戻って来いよ」なんていう声が聞こえそうです。

    石柱に真宗正福寺と刻まれているので真宗大谷派(東本願寺派)のようです。また、江戸から明治にかけて活躍した歌人や画家のお墓が有る寺院です。

    特に観光寺でもなく地元の方達の為のお寺ですね。敷地は広く入り易いお寺です。境内には石仏もあり、屋根付きの廊下も昔は格式の有るお寺なのかなと感じさせます。

    特に観光寺でも有りません。地元に昔から在るといった地元の信徒たちの為のお寺という様子です。瓢湖からは道路を挟んで向かい側に在ります。

    どうやら本殿の前に幼稚園（又は保育園）が有るのか子供の声が聞こえます。日蓮宗のお寺のようですが、説明書もないのでどいう由緒なの不明です。

    元は大地主のお屋敷だけあって立派なお屋敷と日本庭園があり、見応えあります。 今はお寺になっていますが、見学出来ます。 子供は無料ですが、大人は有料なので星を減らしました。 保田(やすだ)3度栗の寺としても有名です。静かな場所です。

    阿賀野市の花の寺。 境内や参道にたくさんの花が咲いています。 手入れが行き届いていて、私が訪れたときも、多分住職夫婦だと思いますが、草花の世話をしていました。 少し話しをしましたが、埼玉から花を見に来たと言ったら驚いていました。

    創建は慶長年間（１５９６-１６１５年）とされる浄土真宗本願寺派の寺院です。加藤清正の重臣、中山五郎左衛門清定が会津若松伊南郷古町に円乗を開山とした寺院が起源とされています。古町のバス停から徒歩１分ぐらいの所に位置し、乱立するビルに挟まれて窮屈そうです。１９２５年再建された鉄筋コンクリート本堂は、堂々とした風格を有しています。

    円広坊昵智が蓮如上人に帰依し吉崎御坊の近くに草庵を設けたのが起源とされる浄土真宗大谷派の寺院です。１４９９年加賀国今湊本吉に寺院を開きました。その後、１６１８年に円広和尚によって勝念寺に改められ、現在地に移転しました。境内には蓮如上人尊像と建立の碑がありました。

    創建は寺伝によると鎌倉時代鑁照阿闍梨が開山したと伝わっている真言宗の寺院です。戦国時代には新潟城の城主寄居土佐守の祈願所として庇護されました。明治初期の大火で多くの堂宇が焼失しました。現在の本堂は１９１年に再建されたもので白漆喰仕上げの美しい建物です。

    羽越線の線路に近い場所に境内が広がっていました。寺号碑の奥に境内が広がっていましたが、全て舗装されていました。寒冷積雪地帯を表すように正面の本堂はガラス扉がはまられて防寒対策が取られているようでした。
