    A specialty store of Niigata's famous products centering on Japanese sake, located in the CoCoLo Niigata West Building in JR Niigata Station. The store sells a variety of products such as Niigata's local sake, rice, soy sauce, and sweets, every day crowded with tourists shopping for souvenirs. There is a sake tasting room where customers can select five different types of sake among those from all the sake breweries in Niigata Prefecture, making it an irresistible space for sake lovers.

    Quick visit to the station to do some sake tasting. Cute idea to have the tokens and the sake vending machines. Staff was super nice in explaining to us how to read the vending machines. I tried...

    This popular izakaya (Japanese-style bar restaurant) has many fans from outside of Niigata Prefecture, who come for the delicious foods and drinks of Niigata. The restaurant serves mainly Japanese-style dishes, full of the deliciousness of Niigata. The ingredients for these dishes include local seafood bought directly from local fishermen, and Niigata vegetables from contractor farms, which the restaurant’s staff visit personally to buy their goods. The most popular items on the menu are the seasonal locally-caught sashimi, and Tochio City’s specialty, Jumbo fried tofu. The interior of the restaurant was renovated, leaving the old beams and pillars in place, giving it a relaxing, nostalgic atmosphere. The nearest station is Niigata Station.

    Focusing on oysters and other shells, this Japanese pub is located in central Niigata City, Niigata Prefecture. On the counter, there is a big water tub with live shells inside, so the ingredients are always the freshest. You can enjoy shell cuisine that evokes the seasons with oysters, manila clams, clams, turban shells and surf clams carefully selected from around the country. Popular items include the closing “kaidashi ramen,” sashimi, and “kaizoku gangan-yaki” which grills up a great selection of shells. Features a full selection of local sake, as well as famous brands from outside the prefecture.

    日本酒と合わせて貝のお刺身食べたい、こんな人にはオススメですね。牡蠣と牛のすき焼きみたいなやつが最高に美味しかったです。贅沢ですね。

    I had dinner with colleagues in this restaurant in Niigata. They served nabe, sashimi, sushi, tempura and other typical Japanese dishes. Nice atmosphere and good taste.

    つぼ八は生まれて初めて入店した居酒屋だったので、思い入れがあります。 最近は店舗数が少なくなってきたので、盛り返してほしいですね。
