Located on the second floor of the Izumozaki Tourism & Local Products Information Center, here you can enjoy seafood delicacies of unparalleled freshness. Particularly recommended is the Jinya Gozen meal; limited to just a few customers each day, it comes with takikomi gohan rice made with Izumozaki’s famed turban shell, sashimi, and mozukusu seaweed in vinegar. The chewy turban shells pairs perfectly with the seafood flavor of the rice. Other popular choices include the shogayaki meal made with an abundance of tender, juicy Nagaoka pork sauteed with ginger; and the seasonal seafood rice bowl.

- A restaurant adjoining Roadside Station Aga-no-Sato situated along National Route 49. Located on the second floor of the station, here customers can enjoy a relaxing meal along with a view of the Agano River just across the way. The chef particularly recommends the special oyakodon chicken and egg over rice, which is topped with huge chunks of brand name Koshi no Tori chicken raised on herbs amidst the area’s abundant natural beauty. The choice dish consists of flavorful thigh meat wrapped in thick, creamy scrambled eggs seasoned with Japanese dashi stock. It also comes with a seasonal nimono stewed dish, aemono side, homemade pickles, and soup; a hearty meal choice, its reasonable price is also a plus.

- A restaurant located in the Akakura Kanko Hotel, a hotel with a bathhouse whose baths are free flowing spring water “kakenagashi” style from a natural hot spring. Situated on the top floor of the hotel’s Premium building, just erected in 2016, an elegant atmosphere covers the restaurant. The restaurant’s windows offer an expansive view of the area from1,000 meters above sea level. In the morning, the establishment serves an orthodox Western-style breakfast. Have the American breakfast, which comes with an omelet, sausages, and ratatouille; or the healthy breakfast, which comes with steamed vegetables and ham. Breakfast and dinner are by reservation only. If you are lucky, you just might get to see an “unkai” sea of clouds unfurling beyond the windows.
