  • Oyashirazu Beach

    A pebble beach with clear blue waters. The crystal-like waters make this a popular marine leisure spot for activities such as scuba diving and fishing. Amongst the many types of pebbles that line the shore you can find small bits of jade. People use the available jade exploration kits to search for jade in the rocks. The beach is a 10-minute walk from Oyashirazu Station or a two-minute drive from the Oyashirazu Interchange on the Hokuriku Expressway. A 400-spot parking lot is available. There are plenty of ways to enjoy yourself besides the sea such as the roadside station Oyashirazu Pier Park, or day-trip hot spring facilities.
  • Ajirohama Beach

    This white sandy beach and azure sea are located right next to Ajirohama's downtown area. During the summer season lots of families come to play at the beach. And with plenty of fishing spots in the area as well as year-round surfing it's a popular spot for all sorts of marine sports. Nearby the beach with a prior reservation you can try your hand at dragnet fishing with the local fishing coop. Every year on the first Sunday of August a giant firework display is put on over the sea as part of the Seiro Summer Festival. Fireworks are set off just 350 meters off shore culminating in an amazing spectacle with a Niagara Falls fireworks finale.
  • Inohana Beach

    This charming beach is located at the junction of the old Hokuriku Road and Prefectural Route 193, looking over Sado Island in the sea with Mt. Yahiko standing to the north. It has a wide sandy beach and large shallow area with gentle waves. Even small children can play here without worry. Every year at the start of beach season a ceremony is held to pray for safety. Alongside this ceremony an event takes place in which people hunt for turban shell snails. 200 participants will be issued participation tickets giving them the chance to get their hands on the regional specialty, Izumosaki snails.
  • Kangawa Beach

    This is the largest beach in Sanpoku district, Murakami City and it is a 10-minute walk from JR Echigo-Kangawa Station on the Uetsu Main Line. While not shallow, it stands out for its beautiful scenery made by the white sandy beach and emerald waters. Beach umbrellas are available for rent along with dressing rooms and showers which are available for a fee. You can BBQ on the beach and there is space for motor home camping near the parking lot. Lifeguards are on duty from mid-July to mid-August.
  • Takahama Beach

    This beach is 20-minutes by car from the Nishiyama Interchange. Its long sandy beach stretches through Ominato, Miyagawa, and Shiiya. A beachside hut equipped with restrooms and free showers is available. The Ominato side of the beach draws a younger crowd interested in surfing, body boarding, and other marine sports while the Miyagawa and Shiiya sections draw families and those looking to enjoy a more laid-back beach experience. National Route 352 runs along close to the beach and is a popular driving course for those who like to look over the sea while driving. The sight of the setting sun sinking into the Sea of Japan is considered very romantic.
