    Accommodations / Hot Spring
    Kanagawa Ashigarashimo-gun Hakonemachi Yumoto 577
A communal bath located along the former Tokaido Road on the southern side of Hakone-Yumoto. A charm of the bath is in its retro atmosphere with the outside of the bath marked by a classic Noren curtain adorned with just the character 'Yu' for bath and an old-fashioned attendant's booth located just inside the door. This has led to the bath being favored not just by the locals but by tourists and hot-spring fans alike. The bathing areas are extremely simple featuring just a single circular bath tub. The baths are fed by alkaline free-flowing spring water straight from the source. It's a colorless, transparent spring with a high heat-retention quality and the odor of Sulphur. Both the bath rooms and changing rooms are clean and well kept and this is the perfect place to wash away the sweat after a day of touring or mountain climbing in Hakone.
